Good place to go once maybe. Expensive for the limited number of stations they have.

Cannot get hold of any live person in the retail store. They have only voice messages. It's all shady if you forgot something in the store no one will help you as there is no actual phone on the retail side

Food is extremely expensive for the little tiny things you receive after you order it fills up a baby stomach! make sure you eat before going. They won't let you out to get something to eat you have to eat there if not you loose you money they won't let you back in.

We came around 330. Most rides was closed. My child is 8, he like the building but nothing else. Staff was in their own world not interacting. It's more for smaller kids around 5-6.

It was a lot of fun. There were many stations with different activities. Things like: building a car to jump a ramp, build a rocket then fly it in a astroid style videogame, a Lego city, a interactive ride, a 4D movie, etc. If I had to give a criticism, you build a Lego figure when you first get in. There are things you can do with them as you move from station to station but when you leave you turn it back in (one final mission). So after building your personalized character and spending time with it, you lose them. Sad! On the up side, you can make 3 Lego figures in the store for $12.95 when you leave. I'd say just charge a little more and let us keep the first one.
Frequently Asked Questions About LEGO® Discovery Center Washington, D.C.
What is LEGO® Discovery Center?
LEGO® Discovery Center offers a highly interactive indoor LEGO® play experience where families are free to play, explore, craft, and laugh together. The 32,000-square-foot family attraction features 12 zones to discover, including DUPLO® Park, Building Adventure, Mini World, Imagination Express, Make Your Mini-Figure, Creative Club, Lego Tree of Imagination, The Lego Café, Heroes Adventure, 4D Cinema, The Workshop, and Space Mission. Numerous creative workshops will be planned throughout the year with our brand new team of Master Model Builders led by Andrew. LEGO® Discovery Center is owned by Merlin Entertainments, a global leader in location-based entertainment (with brands such as LEGOLAND®, Madame Tussauds, and SEA LIFE Centers).
How will LEGO® Discovery Center be different from the current LEGOLAND® Discovery Centers?
LEGO® Discovery Center is next-generation LEGO fun where children can let their imagination and creativity run wild with LEGO® bricks. They can find inspiration in the Creative Workshops led by our Master Model Builders and in the Creative Club, where our Playmakers will help bring their imagination come to life, including a reimagined Space Mission where families can create their own rocket and scan it to send into digital space. We also kept our smallest builders in mind - in DUPLO PARK, children and their families can play and discover, solve puzzles, build with LEGO® DUPLO® and walk along the DUPLO duck pond.
Can children visit the center without an adult?
Children aged 17 and under must be accompanied by at least one adult aged 18 and older to enter.
Why are adults without children not allowed to visit LEGO® Discovery Center?
LEGO® Discovery Center is not a theme park but a small indoor attraction designed from the perception of a child between 3 and 12 years old. It provides a safe and fun environment for families with younger children to have fun together. Many of the designed facilities are therefore not designed or suitable for older children or adults. Such as the gaming areas or some attractions.
To ensure a consistently child-friendly play environment, we do not allow groups of adults, adult couples or adults alone regardless of ethnic background, gender or physical condition, who are not accompanied by a child/children. This policy was created in consultation with our visitors and we believe that we have taken an appropriate and practical position that matches the nature of the attraction and the visitor profile.
Having said that, we are well aware that the popularity of the LEGO® brick cannot be limited and that fans exist of all ages and abilities. That is also the reason that we regularly organize “adults only” events in which certain areas of the center are open, such as MINI WORLD, and additional activities such as presentations or lessons are organized to compensate for adults not using many parts of the attraction.
What is the best time to visit?
Generally, the LEGO® Discovery Center is quietest after 2 pm.
Like any popular attraction, we have to limit the number of guests at any one time. The best way of ensuring your child’s place is by booking tickets in advance! Please be advised that all ticket sales are non-refundable. The average visit takes approximately 2 hours, but once inside you can stay as long as you like!
Are visits guided?
We encourage families to interact together and explore their imagination and creativity through a world of open play, and therefore visits are not guided. The typical visit takes 2-3 hours, but you are welcome to stay for as long as you wish.
Can I bring my own food and drink?
We do not allow outside food or beverage unless caring for babies or food allergies in children.
LEGO® Discovery Center encourages guests to enjoy deliciously fresh foods and snacks, and ice-cold sodas in our LEGO® Café.
