  i finally made it here a few years ago (and did some drop-ins a few times like getting guitar strings) i have been very happy with the purchases i got here the big one that was helpful recently was i got a practice amp that for the most part really worked out (i foolishly tried a electric bass guitar on it first and that didn't ruin it but for a second it got off) it was the roland brand (i actually used it to record to cassette tapes a bunch of stuff that probably got my moneys worth out of it i and it's still good) um i like the selection of guitars in stock but haven't won my parents over to getting another guitar just yet um was interested in lessons but didn't follow up with that i was curious about considering learning another guitar tuning like keith richards uses i think that's drop g i like the shopping center location (but a big lesson for me was what my new quote was and that's 'alexandria is not richmond') it looks like this business has been here forever as far as the longterm locals for those interested there was i think it's still going in old town at o'shaughnessy's they had mondays for open mics it doesn't line up for me anymore and maybe i don't do the music 'full time' i think one big issue was hearing the musicians could be 'permanently homeless' i'll do the hobby but many times i'll listen about better ways of doing something i like to play guitar occasionally in my own capacity i think i am somewhat of a good reputable person for that and have thought of having 'pseudo sponsors' before (i pay my part and endorse stuff like other 'hobbies' safely) um there'd be good traits about me as a independent artist like my parents are doing good or i don't do substance abuse (to think of like fugazi with the straight edge stuff) um i paid my 'dues' for many years seeing the big names in dc good times in alexandria with a positive mentally stimulating local music shop thanks alexandria music for letting me in your doors and letting me support the hobby community

  I like this place. They are always welcoming and easy to talk to when you have questions. My daughter takes cello lesson with Erin and she is really good. She gives quality lessons and is patient with my daughter who was a beginner. I would recommend this place

  The owner Roger is exceptional at his job and sold me a wonderful violin bow. He let me try out multiple bows without pressure to buy any of them. When I chose one to purchase he gave me an amazing deal that I wasn't expecting. Definitely coming here again! Wonderful music shop!

  a staple of the bell veiw shopping center the alexandria music co is the best place for all you musical needs and there wonderful staff and gracious owner are always willing to meet with you on a price and help you find the things you need
