Been coming to this zoo since I was a child and I have been bringing my wife and children every year. Attended today and while there were no problems and the kids enjoyed the carousel and train, I was surprised by just how many enclosures were simply empty. People standing around trying to catch a glimpse of animals that simply werent there. I would expect some to be away for various reasons but not so many. Instead of rhinos we saw donkeys in their enclosure. Zebras scattered across multiple placea just to make it not feel so empty. The zoo felt as if it was dying and no longer a place to come to. Not sure where all the tax dollars to support the zoo are going, because almost all of the big attractions are now gone. Maybe its time to say goodbye to Hogle.

We love having an annual membership because then we can just go for a couple of hours and not need to see everything. I really miss having elephants there -there’s still a hole without them in the enclosure. But, having baby Weila there is so sweet! The otters, apes, and sea lions are frequently very active while we are there during the day. The zoo lights are also fun at Christmastime, though you don’t really see the animals then.

Customer service is absolutely terrible. I have been trying to purchase a larger amount of tickets for a education group for late next month. The online system will not allow to process payment, so I couldn't complete purchase. I have tried multiple days. CS could not or would not help. Told me to try in a couple of days. I HAVE TRIED A NUMBER OF TIMES. Would not let me purchase over the phone. Did not or would not help me in any way.

If you’re going on a cold and rainy day do not plan on eating indoors. While they do have 1 indoor seating area they will not let you bring your own food in even if you are soaked and freezing. Normally I wouldn’t mind paying for something small but what makes it even worse is when kids are there for school field trips and they can not buy the already over priced food that’s been sitting under hot lamps. So the 5 and 6 year olds who don’t have jobs and not all parents can come will be forced to sit outside on dirty and unsanitary tables to eat on the cold. After they kick you out to eat on the cold you will find there isn’t a single dry or cleaned table to eat on. 10/10 do not recommend. Children’s Gateway and the aquarium are much better experiences and are much kinder to the patrons that keep them open. Also good to add there were 2 people in the entire indoor restaurant so we weren’t taking seats from their “paying” customers even though you have to pay the very expensive entrance fees to get in. If you want to do the train and carousel those are also an additional cost

A great zoo with a variety of animals! My kids seem to love the otter, seals, sea lions, polar bears, and red panda the most. We currently have an annual membership (for the second time). Tickets are usually a little cheaper of bought online, which also saves time when arriving. If you want to see everything, you'll be there for a few hours because it has so much! In the summer, they have a simple splash pad that is so nice to cooking off, as well as a really fun dog show 6 days a week! They also do sea lion training/enrichment a few times ago, and that's always so fun to watch! The afternoons seem to be the least busy. It has a pretty good amount of shade and buildings. They also have a train ride and a carousel that cost $3 each, and tickets can be bought nearby both locations! I really appreciate how closely this zoo works with the AZA to ensure that their animals are taken care of. They are frequently making adjustments to ensure the best care. I appreciate the zoo's efforts on educating on conservation as well! With so many zoo animals being under care because of being endangered, I think it's so important for kids and adults alike to learn about how we can help these precious varieties of species in our world 🌍 I am so grateful that ticket sales go toward conservation efforts as well! Like with most zoos, I do wish that the some of the animals had bigger enclosures, so I hope that local government funding legislations will continue to pass so that can keep happening. But they do a lot for enrichment for the animals to help keep them as happy as they can! I can tell that the zookeepers and other staff care deeply about all the animals! 🐻‍❄️🦊🐗🦒🐻🦓🦏🐅🦍🐆🦧🐫🦡🦦🦇🦅🦭🐏🦁
