Family goes to the zoo every year but this was the first time we'd been around Halloween. The decorations were amazing and animals we had never seen active during the hotter months of the year were pouring on quote a show! The polar bear, the lions... the giraffes and camels were a favorite. Employees were all wonderful. It was just the best trip. We can't wait to go again next year!

It only gets 3 stars because a lot of the animals, well, just weren't there - kinda disappointing the pull up to an outside animal area or one of their indoor windows and just not see any animals. Also, having to pay extra for the carousel was ok, bc at the end the kids get a donation coin to help out an animal of their choice, BUT having to pay extra for the train ride was too much. Either way, my little one had a good time, just don't think we'll be going back any time soon, sorry 😔

The animals seem so happy. Obviously it's not ideal next to being in the wild but their areas are very well kept and they are active and playful. We love watching the tiger and the polar bear. They offer a giraffe feeding experience that we have not participated in but it looks enjoyable. There are plenty of benches and shade to rest in for those hot days. It's nice that it's open all year long and fun during Halloween to see the lights.

While attending the Aquarium and Zoo Facilities Association conference I was able to visit the Hogle Zoo all the way from the Phoenix Zoo. The staff was very friendly. The facility was clean and very well maintained. The food was really good.
This is a must see facility if you are in the area. I will definitely visit again the next time that I am in Salt Lake City.
