★☆☆☆☆ — Cinemark’s App Misled Me, and Customer Service Couldn’t Care Less
I’ve been a longtime Cinemark customer and Movie Rewards member, but after this experience, I’m seriously questioning why I continue giving this company my business.
On Friday, October 16, 2026, I had purchased tickets in advance for the 10:15 AM showing of Street Fighter at Cinemark Dallas XD and IMAX. Unbeknownst to me, the screening had been canceled due to theater repairs.
Before leaving, I specifically checked the official Cinemark app to verify my showtime. Everything appeared normal. My tickets were still active, and the screening was still listed as scheduled. Even after arriving at the theater, the app continued displaying the showing as if nothing were wrong.
I wasted approximately TWO HOURS of my day driving to and from a theater for a movie Cinemark already knew it wasn’t showing.
Yes, Cinemark sent a cancellation email. However, when a customer opens your official app to verify a scheduled showing, shouldn’t that information be accurate? Why should customers be expected to search their email for a possible cancellation when Cinemark’s own application is actively telling them their purchased showing is still happening?
I contacted Cinemark Guest Services, explained the situation, and requested something reasonable: guest passes or vouchers to acknowledge the wasted time, gas, and inconvenience caused by their inaccurate app.
Their response? Since they had issued a refund and sent an email, they would provide no additional compensation.
That’s it. No meaningful acknowledgment that their app displayed incorrect information. No effort to make things right. Just a generic apology and a link to their FAQ.
Let me be clear: Refunding tickets for a movie you didn’t show is not compensation. It’s the bare minimum.
What frustrates me most isn’t that the movie was canceled. Repairs happen. Things go wrong. I understand that completely.
What I don’t understand is why Cinemark believes sending an email absolves them of responsibility when their own app contradicts that notification, or why a longtime paying customer should simply absorb the consequences of their failure to communicate accurately.
I wasn’t asking for anything extravagant. A couple of guest passes would have demonstrated that Cinemark actually valued my time and continued business.
Instead, their response made it abundantly clear how little my loyalty and inconvenience mattered.
I expected better from Cinemark. Apparently, that was my mistake.
If you’re purchasing tickets in advance, be warned: just because Cinemark’s official app says your movie is scheduled doesn’t necessarily mean it is. And if you waste your time trusting that information, don’t expect their customer service department to make it right.

Loved the seating definitely will make this standard plenty of room
Between seats however stay away from the items in the line our nachos where stale I’m assuming they might but those out there so people grab them first and they get them out of there inventory anyways I’m caught on will be checking dates from now on also beware of there staff I think our cashier purposely put a shit load of salt in our popcorn i sensed a tone because she started talking Spanish when she heard my wife and started talking to me in Spanish and I answered her in English it’s hard for me to switch when I start with someone in English kind of ruined the night for us money wasted just did not feel like complaining this time

I am a regular visitor of this location solely due to its proximity. Every time I have visited the seats are always so uncomfortable and never recline enough, no matter what theatre I'm in. I've visited multiple different locations in the DFW area, and they have always had better seating. I've never had a bad experience other than this, but the chairs seriously need to be updated.

Favorite theater in DFW. Have seen multiple movies here in 70MM now, it’s been a great experience every time. Staff is so friendly and does a great presentation beforehand.
Only had one bad experience. The 70MM camera broke during the showing for Oppenheimer, but they compensated us for the ticket with a free pass and still showed the movie in regular IMAX.

This is review for 70 mm Odyssey IMAX. It is a hype.
I waited almost 3 month to watch this movie in 70mm IMAX. It was underwhelming. Do not get me wrong, the movie is great. However, it is not worth it. You can easily still enjoy the movie in regular or 3D. No need for 70mm IMAX, which I found to be good, but completely not necessary. And the screen look like a 1:1 ratio, may be I am wrong, but it was not good aspec ratio. The sound is great, but not enough to save the experience.
Christopher Nolan is without a doubt a great director and story teller, and he should be commended for bringing the Odyssey to a new generation of viewers. I have read Homer's Odyssey and have been in love with the story since I was a child. I have also dives into the story and Homer in school and why it has survived for thousands of years. So, some of the movie decisions are too jarring. It is experiencing breaking. The main is Agamemnon. He stick out like a cellphone in ancient Greece. The other is casting is Helen of Troy and some other actress or actors. She is such an important part of the story that it is distracting to have. The whole time I wish Beyonce or Alice Key would have made a better Helen of Troy. The third is the shortening of some of the story arc and extensions of Penelope and Telemachus arc. I understand why it was done, but it cheapen the epic nature of Odyssey as a journey. It focus on a guy trying to come home and trying to find himself again. But it leave little room for more depth and misses some of the original story rhythm. It will satisfy the casual fans who want excitement and brief entertainment, but lacks depth for those who like know a little more. It is an exciting introduction to the world of the Odyssey, but demand the viewer to go somewhere else to know about it.
With that said, the movie is a masterpiece in story telling from a great director. It is about a man trying to make it back from a war that changed him. But his journey back is cutshort or cheapen sometimes.
I grew up with IMAX. I am a fan. I thought it was very cool and love it. However, The IMAX 70mm and the current experience is not worth it. The hype is real and very disappointing. It is my first and last 70mm unless something outstanding demands it. Or may be try another theater. I still deeply appreciate Christopher Nolan for supporting IMAX and preserving it for a new generation.
