  Went to live band karaoke today, which tickets said 12-2; however, City Winery cut them off at 1:30. The band was even surprised and confused when they were forced to announce the early ending. When leaving, an employee said it was because the next band gets priority to set up. Everyone should get a partial refund for City Winery not honoring the promoted schedule. Wait staff is kind. Venue looks nice, but it’s cramped. Food is just OK but also expensive ($14 for plain fries).

  Let’s start with the good. It’s a beautiful venue and the service was excellent if you get there early enough, maybe about a hour before the shows start. And Melanie Fiona, was one hell of an experience. Loved her from the beginning to the very end!! And to the bad. The food is extremely overpriced for the portions that they give you. The crab dip was delicious but for the portion they give you, no way in hell it should have been over $20. Then had the nerve to charge for extra baguettes when they only gave you 6 to begin with. The entrees were also small, and me being a petite girl who gets satiated quickly and I wasn’t, says a lot about the portions they give you. And the fact that they charge $27 for a small burger and fries is unreal. Even your high end restaurants don’t charge that much for a burger. So I would suggest eating before you go see the show, and maybe just enjoy a glass of wine during the show. Lastly, it was way too cramped in there. I had way too much trouble trying to exit the venue. I even waited for a lot of people to exit first since I was stuck in the middle row. Waiters trying to collect the checks at the last minute when the show was already over was part of the reason why there was a lot of congestion. It was my first time here and this place has a lot of potential. If the show is worth coming to see, I can see myself coming back. But I’ll be getting dinner first before coming here, and I would recommend everyone doing the same.

  This city winery and the location of the winery was very racist. This event was a predominantly black event/audience based and one of the waiter/waitress told me a lot of people called off for the event and I could tell. The venue first opened and the bathrooms was already trashed, like there was an event prior and they didn’t bother to clean it up. I was at a table with ladies and they didn’t get food after request over and over, to the point the cooks in the kitchen were declining to make food that was ordered, says “it’s not possible they can’t do it”…? They were also serving us ALCOHOL and not making sure we kept water to prevent over intoxication, I had to ask for water. Note to City Winery and Pittsburgh non-black residents: you just want black people to just camp away in the house and NEVER come outside and you want the ENTIRE city to yourself without ever seeing African Americans at all? We can’t enjoy our lives and have fun? Not everything we do is ghetto escapade and a shootout. There was no fights, no arguments, or anyone got hurt. It was fun and peaceful with 90% black people there! In this economy the fact they called off so they didn’t want to serve us and give us a good experience says a lot. When other races come to OUR SPACES we DO NOT treat yall that way, in fact we treat you better than our own and do our BEST to make you comfortable. But, it seems that may be also be feeding into your racist pathology that we must OBEY the superior, because why isn’t it reciprocated? We are all people at the end of the day! Get over yourselves and hope all these new city “advancements” you all are doing falls apart, be a waste of time and money since you don’t want to make the city for everyone, it’s blatantly obvious at this point. Have the success you deserve! Good day!

  Packed in like sardines. Not a comfortable dining experience. The steak at $54 was tough and no grill marks. Made for a flavorless steak too. Supposed to be au poivre. That's a joke. Maybe they can make better bar food. Don't buy the good stuff, cause it ain't. Spent$300 won't do that again. That will be my last food purchase at the city winery. $36 for a 1.5 inch cube of short rib. The shrimp and crab dip$36 was lacking in shrimp and flavor. Wow did I mistake this place for a possible great experience. Oh yeah, the Nutella flat bead was a piece of tough pizza dough with maybe 2 berries on it. The ends 2 inches each, had no toppings what so ever. The over priced food continued to disappoint. Don't expect an elegant night out. It won't happen! And be ready to pay through the nose.

  Great venue, I would recommend going, but make sure you get the seat you paid for. I purchased 2 seats together, then purchased another ticket that cost more, then when I get to the venue someone was in my seat and the staff did not make them move. Plus I paid more fir the ticket than the first 2 tickets just 2 tables over. I did not want to cause a scene, so I just moved to another seat.
