Since 1963, the Improvisation Comedy Clubs have set the standard for live stand-up in the U.S., launching generations of comedy’s biggest stars. The original Improv opened in New York City in 1963, shaping modern stand-up and serving as a proving ground for legends like Robin Williams, Andy Kaufman, and George Carlin. Though the NYC location closed in 1992, the legacy never faded.
Now, 34 years later, the Improv returns to New York with a new home in Brooklyn at 64 N 9th Street in Williamsburg, near the Bedford Ave subway and North Williamsburg ferry — bringing top comedians and rising stars back to NYC.

Funny “Fuck It” dating show with Jessica Kirson but service and management left much to be desired. After being seated for 30 minutes, we were informed that we were improperly seated by staff and must move from our prime seating— for which we arrived when doors opened for— to the balcony which had terrible sightlines for the show. While the QR ordering was clever, drink service was incredibly slow— this is especially problematic for a venue with a 2 item minimum. (Not the fault of the server— she was given too big of a section and the holdup seemed to be at the bar) The show was entertaining but we will be avoiding this venue in the future.

The ticketing process feels like a complete bait-and-switch. We arrived with what were labeled as “confirmed” tickets, only to be told that the show had been oversold and that we would not be admitted. Nowhere during the ticketing process does it clearly state that a confirmed ticket does not actually guarantee entry.
The use of the word “confirmed” is incredibly misleading and gives attendees every reason to believe they have secured a spot. Instead, people are spending time and money traveling to the venue—some from considerable distances—only to be turned away at the door. That is not only frustrating, it’s unacceptable. This venue needs to seriously reconsider its policies and be more transparent before people commit to attending.

Authentic comedy club with great food and good drinks, loved the Honey& Henny cocktail. Few blocks away from Bedford on the L. And they blast the AC so bring a sweater for you significant other. Great place for date night, would definitely come again.
