The William Phelps General Store and Home Museum is one of the five museums in Historic Palmyra. Known as "where time stands still," this museum has historically served the residents of Palmyra and Erie "Canawlers" in various capacities, including as a boarding house, tavern, bakery, and general store since its construction in 1826. Proprietor William Phelps completed renovations to the store by 1875, and it remained untouched by his son Julius, who locked the doors in 1940, creating a fascinating time capsule for you and your family to explore.
Upstairs, you will find the elegant home of the Phelps family, featuring post-Civil War furnishings and Victorian splendor, all preserved.
