The hostess at TWO FIFTEEN blocked a whole group of people from using the emergency stairs to get back to their rooms after a fire alarm. Her explanation for why we couldn’t use the stairs was “you just can’t, you just can’t”. No other explanation or direction to another set of stairs. @FDNY, if you would like to fine the hotel for restricting access to an emergency stairwell, I am happy to be a supporting witness.
In addition to the ignorant hostess working at TWO FIFTEEN, the rest of the staff in the hotel had no clue what was happening and were useless during the fire alarm. The fire fighters were more useful than the hotel staff in letting guests know what was happening.
Finnian at the Public Hotel lounge/bar truly elevates the entire experience. From the moment you sit down, she makes you feel genuinely welcomed with a perfect balance of warmth, professionalism, and effortless cool that matches the vibe of the space. Her knowledge of the menu and cocktails is exceptional

If you are of Asian or South-Asian ethnicity, I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND AVOIDING THIS HOTEL.
I was racially attacked and treated with hostile, aggressive behavior by staff.
I was staying at the hotel on a business trip and had been there a couple times prior with my girlfriend - the doorman at the lobby restaurant-cum-bar (in a grey hoodie/sweatshirt who said his name was Toni) stopped me from entering, asked me to beg him to let me enter and then said he doesn’t let Asian people in - I walked away.
There are numerous other reviews about similar discriminatory behavior.
I would highly recommend choosing another hotel.

I’ve been a regular at public hotel for 2 years and this is by far, the best bar service I’ve ever had. Gabriel, Alfredo, Herlindo, well exceeded in terms of customer service. They were very attentive, prompt, and hospitable. I recommend you try the white Negroni with mezcal. It’s chef kiss!!!
