HISTORY
Since 1963, the Improvisation Comedy Clubs have remained the premier stages for live comedy in the United States. Over the decades, the talent who have graced Improv stages represent the Who’s Who in American comedy.
Raleigh Improv opened in 2018 in the Parkside Town Commons retail center in Cary, NC, one of the fastest-growing areas in the Triangle region. Guests can enjoy comedy from national headliners in a modern 560-seat club while enjoying premium food and cocktails.
The venue features three tiers of seating, including 32 luxury booths and rail seating for nearly 90 guests, plus a curtain to accommodate flexible capacities.
Since opening with Ken Jeong on December 28, 2018, Raleigh Improv has hosted several top tier comedians including Tracy Morgan, Craig Robinson, Eddie Griffin, Rob Schneider and Jeremy Piven. An episode of the “Deck The Hallmark” podcast was filmed at Raleigh Improv, which also hosted a livestream by Mix 101.5, featuring local elementary and high school choirs.

We attended Luenell’s 9pm show on May 2nd. The show was awesome. Our VIP seats were great. Customer service was another story. We ordered 2 drinks and 2 order of fries. Two drinks and one order of fries came pretty quickly. The other order of fries never came which means we had to share one order. We brought this to the attention of two servers and still never received the fries while people all around us were continuously receiving food. How difficult can it be to get an order of fries together? I understand the requirement of purchasing 2 items per person but to purchase items and never get them is unacceptable. Based on other reviews this is a trend.

I attended a comedy show on May 1st, and I wanted to share some feedback. I rarely leave reviews—in most cases, I prefer to speak directly with management because I believe constructive criticism helps businesses grow. This review is not intended to bash Raleigh Improv, but to offer honest feedback and highlight areas for improvement.
To start, the entrance process felt a bit confusing and unnecessarily strict. There were both steps and a ramp leading to the same area, and since the steps were shorter and we saw others using them, we started to go that way. However, we were quickly stopped and told we had to use the ramp instead, even though both paths led to the same place and the upper section was closed off anyway. It wasn’t a major issue, but the interaction felt a bit abrupt and could have been handled more smoothly.
The biggest concern was the seating arrangement. We were placed at a long, shared table for eight, and it felt extremely cramped. Although the venue is large, the layout made it feel overcrowded. We were instructed to sit in specific seats that placed us very close to others, and once more guests joined, there was barely any personal space. We eventually had to adjust our chairs just to be comfortable, which then put us directly in the path of servers walking by.
Additionally, the table setup made it difficult to enjoy the show. Because of how the seating is staggered, our view of the stage was partially blocked by people sitting in front of us. This made it hard to fully engage with the performance.
Service was also a challenge. We ordered drinks early using the QR code system, but they didn’t arrive until well after both the opener and the main comedian had already started. We asked about them twice. While we were eventually offered two drinks on the house (which was appreciated), it was confusing since our original drinks were still delayed. Unfortunately, both the complimentary drinks and the ones we ordered were not enjoyable and went mostly untouched. Drink total for 2 drinks was $50.
On a positive note, the venue itself is spacious and has a lot of potential. However, the current layout, service flow, and overall guest experience could use some improvement—especially considering how great the space could be with a few adjustments.
Again, this is shared with the intention of providing constructive feedback. I hope it helps improve the experience for future guests.
