I really enjoyed this Museum and learning the story behind the place. While Joseph Robidoux may have been a "rogue", he certainly had some good ideas - as demonstrated by this novel (for the time) concept of an apartment house. And, as usual, I'm blown away by how thoughtful the supporters of places like this are in their imagining and caretaking. Kudos.

This is a great little museum that provides a good intro to St Joe's history. It's a good size for kids (my nine year old grandsons spent 45 minutes looking through all the exhibits) and also for out of town visitors who may have limited time. Like the much larger Patee House it is curated by people who clearly have a sense of place and value their history and their community. On a nice day you can then go walk around historic Mt Mora cemetery and you will see some names there that match those in the exhibits. A good way to talk with kids about how the past shapes the present and future.

I enjoy coming here but I wouldn’t necessarily consider the indoor portion child friendly. Lots of great information about the man, his family, and the city, but it’s not very interactive. I enjoy going by myself to learn and I always learn something new.

What a wonderful personal history of our town! Plus the caretaker Ivana is great to visit!
