- JSJMC STLMay 17, 20265.0My wife & I took the self-guided tour of the Pony Express National Museum in St. Joseph, MO on a weekday morning, so we had the museum space to ourselves to linger at the historical displays & read the details of how the short-lived Pony Express services were influenced by & influencial within mid-19th Century U.S. history. The tour starts with an approx. 15-minute introductory movie which should not be skipped. After that, you can simply follow the directional markings on the floor of this relatively small museum to learn more about the Pony Express & the era than any primary or secondary school History class ever had time to teach you. Attractive professional displays, LOTS of easy-to-digest signage, and a very friendly staff. A 2+ hour stay will go by before you know it. We recommend the Pony Express Museum to people of all ages.
