  Easily the best State Capitol building in the United States. The interior design of the building is extraordinary. The Rotunda, Supreme Court chamber, house chamber and Senate chamber are exceptionally completed. The gold coated statue at the top is stunning. A must visit when you are in Twin Cities.

  A beautiful capitol building with amazing architecture, paintings, sculptures. Lots of cool exhibitions about the history of Minnesota, the staff and security were also extremely friendly and helpful.

  Absolutely 💯 incredible. "Just happened" to be in the Rotunda when Speaker of the House Demuth gave a campaign speech for many news outlets. The sad part is we were the only 'constituents' present. She is the Republican candidate for governor of the Great State of Minnesota! All the staff me met were just so kind and professional too from the guards to the gift shop!

  Its the state capital! Ive been to about 6 this year alone. I especially like the architecture of the exterior. Even inside you can see how hand made craftsmanship used to thrive in our nation.

  ★★★★★ – Minnesota State Capitol The Minnesota State Capitol is absolutely worth visiting if you enjoy history, government buildings, architecture, or touring state capitols. This was not my first state capitol, and it definitely will not be my last. Like many capitol buildings, this one is elegant, ornate, and impressive both inside and out. Guided tours are available, and I would highly recommend taking one if you have the time. I was only able to follow the guided tour for about 15 minutes because I had a busy schedule, but even that short portion, which focused on the Supreme Court area, was fascinating. The guide shared details and historical context that I would not have learned from simply walking through on my own. Since I was short on time, I also used the self-guided tour booklet and explored at my own pace. That worked well, but anyone who is especially interested in the history of the building should make time for the full guided tour. The grounds are very large. During my visit, the main stairway entrances on each side of the building were closed, so visitors had to enter through a side entrance underneath the stairs. Security screening is required, which is normal for an active government building. Inside, the rotunda is beautiful. The first floor features a prominent star in the center, historic Minnesota battle flags, portraits of governors, and paintings of other important figures from the state’s history. I was also able to enter the governor’s office, which was beautifully decorated and very well maintained. The artwork, furnishings, and architectural details throughout the building were impressive. The House and Senate chambers were gated off during my visit, but you could still see inside and take pictures through the gates. Just be careful not to drop your phone. The staircases and hallways are also worth taking time to appreciate. The white stone stairwells are especially elegant and very photogenic. There are also rotating art displays and working government spaces that add to the experience. The building was very clean, restrooms were available on multiple floors, and there were working elevators for visitors who have difficulty using stairs. Overall, the Minnesota State Capitol is a beautiful and interesting place to explore. Whether you enjoy American history, architecture, politics, or simply visiting state capitols, this is a must-see stop in St. Paul.
