Designed by architect Cass Gilbert and completed in 1905, it’s famous for its massive white marble exterior and its striking dome, which is topped by a golden chariot sculpture called “The Quadriga.” The building sits on a hill, giving it a commanding view over downtown Saint Paul. Inside, the Capitol is just as impressive—high ceilings, detailed murals, marble staircases, and beautifully restored legislative chambers.
