  Great experience! Definitely recommend taking the guided tour instead of the self-guided option. Your guide was highly knowledgeable and accessed areas of the building not open to the general public. Renovated and restored circa 2016, the building is in great shape and shows off the initial splendor from its opening in 1905. Building is accessible and includes elevators so mobile challenges should not be much of an obstacle for visitors.

  Very impressive government building with a lot of history, art and other artifacts. Should also be noted that the staff were extremely friendly and helpful throughout the whole building including security. Thank you.

  Had a guided tour here and the person who had helped us was the best I have ever had. My wife and I have been on a few guided tours now but the level of detail and discussion for this place was unrivaled. They really are proud of the building and it shows, the architecture is truly stunning. Also, the library was a really neat hidden gem, and you can see documents dating back to the beginnings of MN! Definitely worth a visit!

  I have been to several state capitols and this is one of the best. Very beautiful and impressive. My family and I enjoyed the free guided tour. They are every hour on the hour. We learned a lot of historical and architectural information as we were taken to the Rotunda, Supreme Court chambers, the House, the Senate, and up to the roof. Gorgeous views from up there! We then went to the governor's office on our own, as well as to the library and the basement where, in a true German fashion, there's a Rathskeller cafe! Building is recently restored to its original beauty. There are elevators if stairs are too much for you. Restrooms are plentiful; actually, first public restrooms built in MN! Parking wasn't difficult to find. I definitely recommend a visit and catching one of the tours. Give it about 2 hours. They also have brochures for a self guided tour if you're in a hurry.

  I'm giving this capital building five stars just because it was amazing and beautiful from the outside. Very disappointed that I didn't get to see the inside because it was Sunday. Come on, people travel all the time on weekends. Open it up for self guided tours. I'm sure that staffing a couple security guards wouldn't break the bank. Have to come back now to see the inside.
