Update: Thank you for the response. I did reach out because service should never be a reason for a customer to leave unhappy. However, seeing the same generic reply copied and pasted across so many negative reviews makes it feel less like genuine concern and more like a standard response. Customers who take the time to share their experiences deserve acknowledgment that reflects the specifics of their situation, not just a template. I hope my feedback is truly considered.
Review: My first experience at Main Event was great. There are a lot of entertainment centers with similar concepts, but something about this location stood out to me. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to come back and surprise my partner for his birthday with some of his closest friends and family. Unfortunately, this visit felt very different.
From the start, there seemed to be some challenges with staffing and organization. We had difficulty getting set up for bowling, and while an older gentleman named Charles was kind and genuinely tried to help us, the accommodations he had discussed with us were not easily honored when things didn’t go according to plan. The manager who assisted afterward was not particularly accommodating, and her interaction with our group left us feeling unwelcome. I wish I could remember her name because that experience had a significant impact on the overall atmosphere of the evening.
Another challenge was the restaurant and bar service. Ben, who appeared to be serving and bartending a large area largely on his own, seemed overwhelmed. It was unfortunate because the workload appeared to affect both his mood and ability to maintain a positive guest experience. Even simple requests, including getting water and drinks, took an unusually long time. Several members of our group noticed the same thing independently and later commented that they had similar interactions. To Ben’s credit, he eventually came back, sincerely apologized, and made an effort to make things right, which we genuinely appreciated.
While much of the evening was disappointing, there were a few employees who stood out in a positive way. Derek, a young staff member with locs, was exceptionally kind, patient, and apologetic throughout the experience. He went out of his way to help us get our bowling shoes and treated us with genuine respect. Another young staff member also assisted us and helped improve the situation, though unfortunately I don’t remember her name.
Overall, this visit left a bad taste in my mouth because I had talked about it for weeks and was genuinely excited to celebrate my partner’s birthday here. What made it especially disappointing was knowing how great my first experience had been. I still believe Main Event has the potential to provide an excellent experience, but on this particular visit the atmosphere, staffing challenges, and customer service issues made it difficult to enjoy what should have been a special celebration.
