  Julie is a phenomenal photographer! She considered my needs and what I would be using the portraits for, and then chose strategic poses and backdrops to ensure they would fit the purpose. She gave direction and helped me to pose in a way that was flattering, and was very attentive to detail. Most importantly, she was personable, reliable, and easy to work with! I will definitely be going back to Julie for more photos!

  ​I won a pet portrait photoshoot with Julie Kaplan Photography through SLSF's Celebrate Ability gala last November. My family and I have been attending the gala for years to help raise funds for NWSRA’s programs, and to celebrate both the opportunities these programs provide to the special needs community and my brothers, who have nonverbal moderate-to-severe autism. ​Before our session, I confided in Julie that my dog is shy and reactive to strangers because of her size and the fact that she was the runt of her litter. Julie reassured me multiple times that it would be okay if my dog couldn't make it to the end of our allotted time; she promised she would still do her absolute best to capture great photos. She also suggested wearing her out beforehand so she might tolerate staying for the entire session. ​Penny and I did our photoshoot on MLK Day, and we had an absolute blast getting our pictures taken in Julie's studio! Julie was exactly as advertised: professional, prepared, supportive, and funny. While Penny is normally a poser for me and my immediate family, the fact that Julie was able to capture so many beautiful, phenomenal pictures of her was like something straight out of a dream. ​Thank you, Julie!

  I am not sure where to start….This was one of those unforgettable experiences that is so rare, so unexpected, yet so impactful! I chose Julie for my head shots for so many reasons….end result being most important of course! I love my pictures! And others in the industry are truly so complimentary of them as well. Julie makes the process so easy and so fun! She has such an eye and really knows how to work with her subjects/talent/humans-me! It was such a comfortable and relaxed setting in Highland Park. She really helped me open up and get in touch with all the joy I felt while doing the photo shoot. I think it shows in my glow! I love Julie Kaplan Photography and want to share what an impactful and special experience my personal photo session was with everyone!!

  I highly recommend Julie Kaplan Photography. My wife was extremely happy with her business head shots (she received a lot of compliments), and we recently had Julie take our dog's portrait. She managed our very active doodle beautifully (the session was fun) and we a lot of great shots to choose from. We plan to have her take our family portrait.

  I can't say enough amazing things about our dog photo session! From the moment we arrived, Julie made our pups feel completely comfortable and brought out so much personality in every shot. The photos perfectly reflects our dogs unique spirit, and it was impossible to choose favorites! If you're looking for someone who can create incredible portraits I highly recommend booking a session. It was worth every penny, and we'll definitely be back!
