As a lifelong Star Wars fan, I went into Galaxy's Edge with incredibly high expectations. Unfortunately, while I enjoyed it, I left feeling like something was missing.
Don't get me wrong—the attractions are outstanding. Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run are both fantastic, and the attention to detail throughout the land is impressive.
What surprised me was that the land itself didn't feel quite as immersive as I expected. I can't put my finger on exactly why, but it never gave me that feeling of completely stepping into the Star Wars universe the way I had hoped. For me, it didn't reach the same level of immersion that I've experienced in places like the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
Maybe my expectations were simply too high after being a Star Wars fan my entire life.
Even so, I'd absolutely recommend visiting Galaxy's Edge, especially for the rides alone. While the land itself was a slight letdown for me, the attractions are some of the very best Walt Disney World has to offer.

One of the most impressive areas in the park. From the moment you enter, you feel like you’ve traveled to another planet. The design, buildings, characters, and atmosphere create a very realistic feeling of stepping into the Star Wars universe.

Star Wars Galaxy's Edge at Hollywood Studios is one of the most ambitious things Disney has built in recent memory and it largely delivers on that ambition. Walking into the land feels like stepping onto a Star Wars planet in a way that no photo prepares you for. The ships, the ambient sound design, the architecture, and the sheer density of detail in every direction make simply walking through the area rewarding on its own terms before you even get on anything. Easter eggs are scattered throughout the shops, food stalls, and environmental details for fans who want to look for them, and the whole land rewards exploration at a slower pace.
Rise of the Resistance is the centerpiece and one of the most technically impressive theme park attractions anywhere in the world. It is a non-negotiable ride for anyone visiting the land. Wait times can stretch significantly during peak hours but drop noticeably in the evening, and the single rider line is worth using if splitting up is an option. Millennium Falcon Smugglers Run puts you in the cockpit of the actual ship with a role to play in the outcome, and the interactive element gives it replay value that a passive ride does not have.
The Oga's Cantina reservation is worth securing in advance if you want the full experience the land has to offer. It is a small, atmospheric bar tucked inside the land and fills up quickly. The food throughout Galaxy's Edge leans into the Star Wars theming in a fun way and is worth trying beyond just grabbing something quick.
For Star Wars fans this is a pilgrimage. For everyone else it is still one of the most impressive pieces of theme park design and world building you can walk through.

Galaxy's Edge feels like Star Wars from Wish.com.
The land itself is visually impressive, but the entire experience is built around Disney's sequel trilogy, which is where it completely falls apart for me. Instead of feeling like I'm stepping into the Star Wars universe I grew up with, I'm surrounded by characters and storylines that never earned the same connection with fans.
The biggest problem is that the rides revolve around the Resistance rather than the Rebel Alliance. The original trilogy captured the excitement of an underdog rebellion fighting against the Empire. Galaxy's Edge replaces that with a watered-down version that lacks the same impact, making the whole experience feel like an imitation rather than the real thing.
As I rode through the attractions, all I could think about was how much better they would have been if they featured Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia, and R2-D2. Imagine hearing iconic lines from the original films and being part of those legendary moments instead of being pushed into stories centered around Rey, Finn, Poe, and Kylo Ren.
Unfortunately, those sequel-era characters come across as cheap imitations of the originals rather than worthy successors. Disney seems determined to put them front and center and tell guests they're supposed to care about them, but for many longtime fans it has the opposite effect. The more they're forced into the experience, the more obvious it becomes how much stronger the original characters were.
Galaxy's Edge had the opportunity to create the ultimate Star Wars experience by celebrating the characters, stories, and moments that made the franchise legendary. Instead, it feels trapped in an era of Star Wars that many fans simply never connected with. The result is a beautifully designed land built around some of the least compelling characters and storylines in the saga.
If you're a fan of the sequel trilogy, you may love it. If you're an original trilogy fan, you may spend most of your visit wishing you were experiencing the Star Wars you actually grew up loving.
