Fred Astaire Dance Studios - Old Saybrook, was established in October of 2011. In 2020 under new proprietors, they’ve created an elegant, friendly, no pressure environment in which our students can learn great dance from world class instructors. The new studio completely remodeled with a total new look, with new dance classes and a whole new team of certified dance instructors.
Our most important priorities are that our students have fun while they improve their dance skills.

- SDShannon DobneyJul 18, 20263.0If you’re looking for just 1-2 lessons for a special event, don’t bother! We called and explained that we only had 2 weeks until our wedding and just wanted to learn a couple of spins to work into our first dance, not a fully choreographed routine. When we came in for our consultation, she had us step back and forth for 30 minutes and then showed us the lesson package options with the lowest package being 5 sessions for $700. There is no option to just do one personalized session. The instructor was lovely and we know it was not her fault—I’m sure the company makes them do it this way. We are just very frustrated that no one explained this to us when we first inquired because we could have explored other options had we known, but now we’re out of time.

Not only do they have private and group lessons, but they have parties to practice dancing with the instructors and other people. I attached a picture of my husband and I at the Halloween party. It’s been great meeting new people, everyone is so nice and encouraging. It’s been a great experience overall and I would recommend you go for it if you are thinking of taking dance lessons.

They go at your pace and all other students have been so nice too. No judgement at all and everyone is so encouraging. I would recommend if you're interested in learning or if you have an event coming up.
