  Can’t believe how great this aquarium was! We went on a Saturday morning, so I fully expected it to be packed, but we walked right in and could see every incredible exhibit with no wait. And they truly were great exhibits; it sometimes felt more like a zoo than an aquarium since they put SO MUCH effort into designing the habitats. Certainly didn’t expect to see such a great tiger habitat at an aquarium! The staff were helpful and fun, the exhibits were (I cannot stress this enough) top-notch, and somehow it wasn’t even crowded. There’s even a bar at the end where you can sit in front of a giant fishtank and watch sharks and other big fish swim while you enjoy a drink, it was a dream come true for me! We’ve been to aquariums all over the world and this made a top-3 experience.

  disappointed. called ahead to verify our fully trained and certified esa could come into the facility with us. it is his birthday and he was contained to a bag. prepaid and was turned away upon entrance. attendants need to be trained on verbiage because i was nearly asked about disability status but she tripped on her words. received a refund after being questioned if we had even called the correct place (we did). was looking forward to spending our afternoon here as we have been to many aquariums around the country, so a bit let down.

  Paid for tickets in a 3rd party app (at the direction of the Aquarium website), got to the aquarium during business hours (checked website for hours and closures and all looked good), only to be turned away with my two toddlers and severely pregnant wife because somebody rented the whole place out for a corporate Christmas party. Zero responsibility taken by aquarium staff, no help offered, though we were told we could go back almost any time and the tickets would be good. They are not good, and still the incompetent people at aquarium offer no help, take no responsibility, and are genuinely useless. Trying to explain that they aren’t “bad people” to my 4 year old who is super disappointed, and finding it very difficult to justify the claim. Just take responsibility: the 3rd party app presumably paid you for it, so, why, when I have proof of payment on a day you would not allow public entrance, would you not just make it right. You are the worst. May your public support, financial subsidies, and other benefits end and be taken up by someone with some sense of community who hires adults who actually take a little bit of ownership and put forth some effort.

  I went with my 7 year old daughter to her friends birthday party here. I love looking at the fish, and learning about their biomes. I don't do well in crowded spaces. I feel like the experience would have been a good one had there not been back to back people. The tour guide was pleasant, he did a good job with the kiddos. And I thought there birthday party plan was a good one, it came with a cake and food, there was fruit and drinks as well. I asked the hostess if it was expensive, and it is pretty pricey. Oh, I almost forgot, the tour started with a meeting with a mermaid. She was pretty cool. I think had it not been for the kindness of the guide, and how much I enjoy underwater creatures, I think it would have been miserable. If I ever make it back to the aquarium, it will be when it is not busy.

  I've been to the Downtown Aquarium twice and enjoyed it both times. There is a large variety of fish as well as a few interesting reptiles, amphibians, and even mammals. You can spend a couple hours If you take your time, stop to read the interpretive signs, and take in all the exhibits. If you partake in some of the interactive exhibits you might stay longer. We ate at the restaurant and although the menu doesn't offer many vegetarian options they modified one of the entrees to accommodate our request and it was delicious. Very relaxing to watch the fish while eating. My only disappointment was the busload of screaming, running, climbing children. They were having fun, but there was not enough supervision and I might have enjoyed myself more if it was more controlled. At times it seemed more like a playground than an opportunity for learning. In any case, a fun way to spend a rainy day.
