This was my husband’s and my first time at any kind of comedy club. We saw Mario Adrion.
The venue is a really good one. Service is quick and friendly. Food is good; yes, higher priced, especially the alcohol. I’m not sure it’s worse than any place else. Overall we did have a really nice night. Mario was amazing.
My qualm: the ‘VIP passes’ we won. Maybe it’s my naïveté, given that I’d never been to any club like this, but I feel those passes are really false advertising. They aren’t VIP. They are general admission, and only local comics. I get it. Butts in seats. But you can’t even redeem them pre-show. You just have to show up and hope. For us, who do not live in San Jose (we’re not super far but we’re not local), that’s kind of lame. It doesn’t say on the pass that it’s not VIP, and since the club has a specific VIP ticketing option, that deepens the confusion. As much as we’d love to come back and drop another $220 plus tip on what is a really fun night, I feel like the risk of being turned away at the door isn’t worth it. Better to just market things for what they are. I do appreciate the staff clarifying via email.

We recently visited Improv while my husband is still using a wheelchair after surgery. Overall, we had a wonderful evening, and the staff were incredibly friendly, kind, and helpful throughout our visit.
One area that could be improved is wheelchair accessibility. The restroom door was very heavy and required someone else to help open it. When the show ended, one exit was blocked, and we were directed to another exit that had a step. Fortunately, several audience members kindly helped lift my husband's wheelchair so we could get out safely.
I hope the venue can be more mindful of guests with disabilities and make the exits and facilities more wheelchair accessible. Aside from that, we had a great experience and truly appreciated the excellent customer service from the staff. Thank you for a memorable night!

We celebrated our friend’s birthday at San Jose Improv for the Mama Mia show, and the entire afternoon was fantastic. I want to give a special shout out to Birdman, one of the ushers, who truly made our experience unforgettable. He personally walked us to amazing seats with a perfect view, recommended great food (which was absolutely delicious), and even surprised our birthday friend by buying her a drink. His kindness and above and beyond service set the tone for the whole afternoon. Thank you, Birdman, for making our celebration feel extra special — you’re a gem and San Jose Improv is lucky to have you. San Jose Improv delivered a great show, and Birdman delivered unforgettable hospitality.
I came to see the dashingly hunky Matteo Lane during his recent tour here at SJ Improv: a legendary theater here in the South Bay that's bore witness to many famous comedians throughout the decades.
His show was about $40 which isn't bad given how expensive things are nowadays. Like most improv houses, there is a 2-item minimum and that can be either in the form of food or drink.
I ordered a draft stella and their chips and guac. The drink was fine as expected but the food was pretty mediocre at best. I definitely do not recommend having dinner here unless you're really short on time.
The show itself was fantastic. We were sitting in the upper balcony and seating is first-come, first-serve, and ended up right in the first row from above. No complaints here as we drank our drink and enjoyed the show.
Parking can be tough but there are plenty of lots nearby that offer free parking for the first 90 minutes, so it doesn't add up to be too much.

We had been waiting for a long time to attend Russell Peters’ show, and unfortunately, it turned out to be a very disappointing experience.
I had originally purchased general admission tickets for the Thursday night show as a surprise for my husband. However, because I didn’t have my physical ID with me, we were asked to switch to a different show date. While we appreciated being accommodated, the seats we received for the new date had a severely obstructed view.
Even though we had valid paid tickets, we could barely see the stage. All we could see were the backs of people’s heads, making it almost impossible to enjoy the performance.
Whether it’s general admission or reserved seating, every paying customer should have a reasonable view of the stage. It was frustrating to spend the evening unable to actually watch the show.
Russell Peters is an amazing comedian, and I hope he and the venue ensure that all audience members are seated in a way that allows them to enjoy the performance. No one should leave a show feeling disappointed simply because they couldn’t see the stage.
