DO NOT GET THE FROZEN TRAETS FROM THE STANDS IN THE PARK!!!!!The only issue we had in the Park was the frozen treats 😬 My husband bought all 8 of our kiddos a frozen treat which cost us 45.00 what a disappointment when we walked away unwrapping it turned out to be so frozen rock solid hard we couldn't eat it. The two of us that had the frozen bananas 🍌 our tongue 👅 stuck to the chocolate 🍫 luckily for me it was the older ones that had that issue and not the Littles 😬 we had a couple of Mikey chocolate sandwiches solid as a rock. All of the ice cream we purchased we had to wait for at least 20 minutes or so before eating them. MAY 3RD 2026

Hard to justify if my time and money is worth it anymore. Rides broke down often, lines are so long its impossible to enjoy your visit without spending more money on lightening lanes. Everyone is walking around with their phones because of mobile ordering, maps, pictures, lightening lanes etc it's all done on the phone which can again take up more time and hold up lines. Food options are good, but again over priced. Churros are 5.75 now, bottles of water are similar priced. With what Disney is capable of with technology and attention to detail, they should have way better processes in these parks when it comes to accomodating guests, especially families. Rider switches, and wait times, and overall employee morale seems to have shifted downwards. My most recent experience at both Disneyland and California Adventure has impacted my future vacation decisions, and we will not be returning to the California Parks.

They let my 10 year old daughter walk out of the park and make it all the way back to the hotel to call us by phone before security had even told us she had left the park. I asked security several times about how this could happen and they told me things about procedures and facial recognition. But bottom line they protect weird adults over the safety of kids. My wife sat with security while I scoured the park looking for our daughter before getting a call from HOTEL SECURITY 3 MILES AWAY! She took the bus! Thank god she made it there safely, but what if she hadn’t? Disney wasn’t apologetic or sympathetic. Just typical corporate people things say to release liability. What a shame!!!! What if this was your child and she took the wrong bus!? And you never saw her again?!!!!?? Disney needs to do better!!! demand better for my family!!!
THIS ALL HAPPENED DURING MY SONS 7th BIRTHDAY! WAY TO MAKE A MEMORY DISNEY!
I'm coming at this as someone who visits Walt Disney World in Florida once or twice a year for the past 5 years or so. I think the best comparison for those familiar with Disney World (WDW) in Florida and Disney California Adventure (DCA) is a combo of Epcot and Hollywood Studios. I assume you know that Lightning Lanes are, how expensive all the parks can be, and the general culture and vibe of Disney World. Also I'm a rides person, so that's most of my focus. And, as always, this is all just my opinion. You do you.
We were there in early April 2026 during the Food & Wine festival, so that's going to affect what we had access to as well as (I suspect) crowds.
I wanted to really like this park. I did not. For me, it's just ok. I think the main issue I had was largely due to overcrowding. The park was more difficult to navigate than I'm used to back at WDW, largely due to packed walkways. It's a small park. Nor are there very many attractions that soak up a large crowd for 15-20 minutes at a time.
Food is generally pretty good. I was underwhelmed by the Not so Little Chicken Sandwich - too dry - but the Pepper Particle Pasta was quite good. The bread from the Boudin Bakery is legit good sourdough. Though the tofu salad from Aunt Cass' Cafe was meh. As for drinks, everything was delicious. Disney across the board generally doesn't have great variety in beer selection, sticking with safe bets. DCA is no exception.
Rides-wise, there are some bangers. In fact, too many. I think the ride mix is a bit off here , made worse by a few attractions being down for refurbishment while we were there. I think this park needs more attractions where a 50-100 people can sit in AC for 15-30 minutes. Animation Academy, Turtle Talk with Crush, and Sorcerer's Workshop are all good for this, but they're all in one place. I think they'd be more effective if they were spread out.
All day for both days we were there, Incredicoaster, Radiator Springs Racers, and Guardians of the Galaxy Mission Breakout basically had 120+ minute wait times. They're all great rides. But when that's what everyone does, it means if you don't have a Lightning Lane you're spending literally half your day waiting in line if your goal is to ride those. On top of that, the second tier rides had 60 minute wait times pretty much the whole time. Upshot: use that Lightning Lane if you can. They do run out on all the top tier rides, so plan accordingly.
All the top 3 rides went down multiple times while we were there. Which doesn't help with the wait times on all the other rides. That also means the posted wait time is low on most things. We hopped in the line for Web Slingers on our second day. Posted was 60 minutes, we waited 120. It went down 3 times while we waited.
One clear win for DCA is the streetmosphere. Plenty of small performances and characters - especially in Avengers Campus - to keep you entertained while standing outside on the concrete for a few minutes. Fortunately the weather in Orange County is generally quite nice.
I had a disappointing experience that almost never happens at Disney parks. On 4/8 at about 5:30, we were in the Lightning Lane for Incredicoaster. Two teens jumped the fence from the exit into the Lightning Lane. When my wife asked them if they were just going to jump the line, they said "my friends are up there" and walked ahead. We told the 2 Cast Members at the checkpoint at the top of the first stairs and they just shrugged it off. I expected they would at least give the 2 a "hey don't do that", but nothing at all. So maybe the trick is not to bother spending money on Lightning Lane? I contacted Disney through the app, who directed me to the guest services email. I sent the email the next day, but haven't heard back. All in all, far below my expectations for Disney.
I don't think we'll head back to DCA at least until they finish the expansions. If you're an old hand at the Florida parks, DCA is a 1/2 to 1 day park. Do what apparently a lot of people do: go to DCA in the morning and park hop over the Disneyland in the afternoon.
