I had an amazing experience at the Tower of the Americas, and a big part of that was Katrina. She was incredibly friendly, social, and genuinely comforting from the moment we interacted. Katrina made us feel welcome right away and was easy to talk to, which really elevated the entire visit. Her positive energy and warm personality stood out and made the experience even more memorable. She truly represents excellent customer service and is a great asset to the Tower of the Americas. Highly recommend!

We went to the observation deck which was so facinating. It is under construction right now, so it is not turning, but it was beautiful and educational. The line to get your ticket is long, so I woupd recommend buying your tickets online because youbhqve to wait in line for the elevator afyer you have your ticket. The line for the elevator was long, we had about an hour wait, but not too bad if you have the right company. There is a 4D theater that talors more for kids, and a gift shop that is very cute! The restaurant attached we did not go to, mostly because it was booked up so we would have had to make a reservation, and from the online menu it seemed pricey compared to other great options in the area. Overall, not too bad. You do get a wrist band so you can leave and come back all day and the standard ticket includes access to the 4D theater, the gift shop, the build-a-bear workshop, and the observation deck, but not the restruant, which you can reserve or go to separately without buying a ticket.

Paid for our tickets online, but you still have to stand in line to get the required wristbands. This is a crazy system because there is only one person working answering questions, helping people purchase tickets and give out wristbands. There should be separate lines if you already purchased tickets. The rotating restaurant is currently not rotating, but you would only know that from reading other reviews. There is also construction going on at the base without great signage for the entrance. No indication on the 4-D movie line, found it and also found the guy in front of us had been waiting in line since noon (it was now 2:30pm) to watch 8-minute movie! The people had just stayed in the theater watching all the movies back to back without being told to leave. I could suggest many ways to make this system better, but as of right now it is chaotic.

We have mixed feelings about the Tower of the Americas restaurant.
Our first visit (dinner) was wonderful — we had a reservation, drinks were great, the atmosphere was beautiful, and the overall experience felt special. That visit is the reason we decided to come back.
Unfortunately, our second visit (lunch, the weekend after Christmas) was very disappointing. We made the reservation one week in advance, and only one hour before arriving, we received a call informing us that the rotating platform would not be working due to maintenance. While that alone wasn’t a deal breaker, it would have been helpful to know much earlier.
The bigger issue was the menu change. We were not informed in advance that lunch would be replaced with a mandatory three-course menu due to the holidays. We specifically planned for a lunch experience and did not have the time (or interest) in a full multi-course meal. If we had known this beforehand, we would have planned our day differently or chosen another restaurant altogether.
Despite having a reservation, we still had to wait for our table, and when we expressed our concerns, we were essentially told to either accept the three-course menu or leave — which felt very inflexible, especially given the lack of prior communication.
On top of that, the water tasted unpleasant, and the ice tea was very poor in quality, which was surprising considering the price point.
Overall, this visit felt poorly communicated and handled. While our first experience was lovely, this second one left us frustrated

First let me start off with $20 parking. We’re not from here as most people that visit so not sure where else to park. The restaurant hostess was basically rude as they’re reservations only and was no help whatsoever. When you buy a ticket for $19.50 it’s basically just to ride to the top & lookout and watch a short 4D movie. The view was nice but not $75 for our family nice lol. There are souvenir penny machines all over the building I know for sure I counted atleast four but not one single person there can exchange $1 bill for 4 quarters. I think this is what made me the most upset. Why have souvineer penny smashers at every corner but not allow anyone to exchange bills for coins? So if you go and your kids enjoy souvineer Penny’s bring your own Pennie’s and quarters. This was a once in a life time tourist thing and if we return to San Antonio we would never consider this is our plans again.
