Disclaimer - no reflection on the performers. It was a GREAT show and we both thoroughly enjoyed it.
As far as the venue, it was great once you are in it. Not really a bad seat in the house. A 4 person table is REALLY small, but that has come to be the case about anywhere these days.
The organization for how they sat people was pretty good, very orderly. I was delightfully surprised.
Unfortunately, the list of bad far outweighs the list of good. And I am not one to complain lightly, but here we go:
-- Information. What you see on the website, what you are told when you call ahead, and what you experience when you get there are 3 entirely separate and different things. Parking was my question, valet parking just makes it easier in a nightmare place with minimal parking like downtown Nashville. Valet parking sometimes per the website. Valet serivce will be happening for this show per guy on the phone. When we got there, parking was confusing and there was no valet service to be found. WHen we got in I asked them, and was told there was no valet service tonight because THE (as in ONE) valet guy did not show up. Without any direction as to what to do we ended up parked in the lot for the TN Rescue Mission. Communication, people.
-- The service was the worst by far that I have seen in Nashville. More than once, and other people even asked us about it because they noticed it too, the server would be beside you taking someone's order and then completely ignore you and leave. Many times we had to flag down someone that was not our server to get anything at all. My entree was so late that my wife was completely finished with hers when we asked about mine the FOURTH time. I finally got a tasty BUT COLD serving of beef skewers. I was starving and who knows how long it would take to get a replacement so I ate them.
-- It was like every server there was working the place for the first time. All night we had people trying to serve us a dish that was not ours, or wander around confused as to where the 3 or 4 late and cold entrees they had belonged and had to go back and ask. Not one time, not just one server, but all night long we saw this. It was like a comedy skit.
-- Pricey. For 2 entrees, 2 drinks, and 4 beers (and tax/tip) $150? They think too much of themselves. It was not that good.
-- On the subject of payment, I tip WELL. We both do, always. However, that is for good service as it should be, which we usually get anywhere we go. Not the case here. Now I don't behave like a jerk when I get bad service, I reflect my displeasure in the tip WHERE YOU SHOULD. However, I did not have that option. On the pad that they checked you out on, you had to select a tip amount before you could finsh. They did not give you the option of a custom tip, and the only options you had were 20%, 22%, or 25%. I had no option to go lower, because in the case of this shitty service I surely would have. That alone is enough to make me never come back. Removing my choice? FORCING me to tip a fair amount for lousy service like we got? No. that was the final straw for me.
-- I was also told they would comp me my late and cold meal, but of course they didn't. I don't know if our server forgat to tell them as was par for her quality of service that night, or they just did not care. After everyhting else I knew it would take too long to argue it out so I just paid so we could leave.
Needless to say I won't be going back to The City Winery any time soon, if ever at all.

So I was there for an event on 11/22/25 and I paid for a balcony seat. However, when I arrived, I was informed that the balcony was closed and that they put me somewhere else. No apology, no would you like a refund, or anything. Just here is where we're going to put you. They didn't even give a reason, because there isn't any. They just did what was more convenient for them. If your servers don't feel like walking up and down the stairs to the balcony to serve then don't sale tickets to the balcony. That's just common sense. They didn't sale out and the back floor part was the main area that had not sold as much so they moved the balcony people to that area. I get it, but that's not what I paid to have. They say it an upgrade, but some people really do want to sit in the balcony area, because that's what they prefer. They should have sent out an email to those that paid for balcony seating or call and allow people to make the decision as to if they are satisfied with that or not and if not refund. I didn't do anything wrong, city winery flipped the script with no prior notice. I dealt with the manager lady, white with blonde hair and glasses. She was unsympathetic with me, not rude just not very understanding. She felt like I should just take it. I asked her if I could sit at one of the high two top tables along the wall which are not even on the map of seats available to be sold on your website. She gave me some excuse why I couldn't, but maybe later it might be possible. All of those high two top tables with the exception of one remained wide open for the entire duration of the show. Which means she just said no for no reason. It would've been the least she could do. No apology and no real reason why she did all this. Not very professional.
Thanks.
