About

Comedy ClubEvent VenueFundraisingDinner TheaterBusiness Meeting Locations
Since 1963, the Improvisation Comedy Clubs have remained the premier stages for live comedy in the United States. Over the decades, the talent who have graced Improv stages represent the Who’s Who in American comedy. Pittsburgh Improv opened in 2002. Located in Pittsburgh’s thriving Waterfront shopping area, the club offers a combination of A-list comedy, good food and cocktails. Pittsburgh Improv regularly hosts top tier comedians such as Hannibal Burress, Anthony Jeselnik, Cedric the Entertainer, Steve Byrne, Wayne Brady, Tom Segura, Anjelah Johnson, Billy Gardel and more. In 2018, the venue was completely redesigned, including a new lobby showcasing legendary Improv comedians, an improved floorplan, upgraded ADA accessibility, and seamless access between the patio space and the club, where VIP booths provide the ultimate guest experience. In December 2019, Pittsburgh Improv partnered with Pandora and local artist, Brian Holderman, to create an original art piece—an exterior largescale mural to enhance the venue. The design aesthetic feels both retro and futuristic, much like the historic Improv brand, which launched in 1963 yet continues to give rise to the top comedians of tomorrow.

On 04/01/2006 my husband & I had our wedding reception at The Improv and Tony Rock was the headliner. And, since we were celebrating 20 years, we decided to go back and make more memories at The Improv. We enjoyed the evening with the headliner Chris Porter and when management found out about us celebrating our anniversary with them & the background of our anniversary, they arranged for us to Chris after the show. Our special thanks go out to The Improv for making such memorable experiences both times with you. We shall see you soon.

The service here was so bad it was almost laughable... but these are not the laughs you are looking for at a place like this. We arrived just under an hour before showtime. It took around 50-55 minutes after being sat to place our food order, and our food arrived towards the end of the show, when last call was being taken. We asked three separate times to different people where was our server and could we order food... if you require a two-item minimum, why are there no servers to be found? Why are the servers bringing out trays of drinks when there were tons of bussers with less to do? It was all just extraordinarily poorly managed. To add insult to injury, the server did not apologize whatsoever when he FINALLY arrived to take our order AFTER the show had started, but made excuses about the poor service. He also rudely told my friends they weren't told something (about the QR code on the table, which apparently used to be able to be used for ordering food) that we were all very much told, by both the people who sat us and the automated recording. I missed several portions of the show when our food arrived, in several waves - which we had hoped to avoid by arriving early to the venue. Don't make excuses when something is wrong - fix it and do better or find a creative solution. If there is a two-item minimum but you are short-staffed, change it to a one-item minimum. The house is full? Good for you. Call in extra help. Email the customers to suggest they arrive extra early to be sure they can get their orders in. I would not return to the Improv based on this horrendous service experience alone.

Great show, good service. Seating was comfortable, but that i think that may have been due to an early arrival for a sold out show. Other seats were definitely less desirable. If you go to a show that is going to be filled, get there for door opening.

You replied to my review and said to contact you but where the contact information should be it literally just says [contact info.] It really is a shame how you walk out of here feeling like you just got taken advantage of, because the comedians are genuinely great. I just don’t understand why the food has to be so bad. Calling them “seasoned fries” and then serving 12 mushy frozen fries with some seasoning dumped on top - no salt, no crisp - and charging $12 is honestly ridiculous. $15 for mozzarella sticks. Really?! I get that there’s a two-item minimum and that prices are inflated like at a sporting event or airport, but at least in those places you expect something halfway decent. Here, the quality just doesn’t match the price at all. It’s disappointing to spend good money on a night out and walk away feeling like you got completely ripped off. And the service made it even worse. Our server, Adam, was easily the worst I’ve ever experienced. He basically disappeared after taking our initial order and didn’t check on us once after the show started. Any time someone from our table got up to use the bathroom, there's Adam, out in the lobby standing around talking to the door guy all night. Meanwhile, the staff handling the other tables around us were hustling, refilling waters, checking in, staying on top of things, while we were completely ignored. Adam didn’t come back until last call to ask if we wanted anything else. I asked for water, and it never even showed up. On top of that, he was rude from the start and openly complained about having to be there. It just felt like he didn’t care at all, which made the whole experience even more frustrating. Honestly, it’s not that hard to do better. If you want to see comedy in Pittsburgh, go to the Bottlerocket Social Hall instead.
