Since 1963, the Improvisation Comedy Clubs have remained the premier stages for live comedy in the United States. Over the decades, the talent who have graced Improv stages represent the Who’s Who in American comedy.
Pittsburgh Improv opened in 2002. Located in Pittsburgh’s thriving Waterfront shopping area, the club offers a combination of A-list comedy, good food and cocktails. Pittsburgh Improv regularly hosts top tier comedians such as Hannibal Burress, Anthony Jeselnik, Cedric the Entertainer, Steve Byrne, Wayne Brady, Tom Segura, Anjelah Johnson, Billy Gardel and more. In 2018, the venue was completely redesigned, including a new lobby showcasing legendary Improv comedians, an improved floorplan, upgraded ADA accessibility, and seamless access between the patio space and the club, where VIP booths provide the ultimate guest experience.
In December 2019, Pittsburgh Improv partnered with Pandora and local artist, Brian Holderman, to create an original art piece—an exterior largescale mural to enhance the venue. The design aesthetic feels both retro and futuristic, much like the historic Improv brand, which launched in 1963 yet continues to give rise to the top comedians of tomorrow.

Great comedy venue with attentive and polite staff. They worked efficiently to get everyone seated within a 15-minute window before the show. Sound and stage view seemed to be pretty clear from any seat in the venue.

Venue is great, staff is great, shows are great… but the food is horrible. It wouldn’t be an issue except they force you to buy two items from the menu per person.

We enjoyed the comedians and managed to snag decent seats by getting there early, though I found the seats themselves quite uncomfortable. The two item minimum purchase limit had me spending as much as I spent on the ticket for the pricy food and drinks they offered, and I will probably avoid coming back again due to that policy.

OK venue to see a comic in, but my only gripe is that they have a TWO PURCHASE MINIMUM while you're there. That means even if you have a paid ticket, you still have to buy two things off the menu (which is pretty expensive) to stay there. Pretty scammy policy IMO. I would not go here again unless it was someone I really want to see.

It's a good building, good vibe, good entertainment. I bought very over priced food, and it came with a souvenir glass. I noticed the cup in the bag was wet for some reason when I got it but I was enjoying the show and ignored it but I should have not done that. They gave me A USED GLASS WITH LEFT OVER BEER INSIDE IT. I am 7 years sober. I'm probably just going to throw this glass away. I'm honestly so upset, second time attending this venue, probably the last time. Some one open a better comedy venue please 🥺 Someone who knows that selling cups, means they are NEW and not used. 2/10
