Came here back in 2011 when it was new facility & concept (for me).
FACILITIES:
Super comfy seats, with swiveling tabletop and fixed drink holder in the arm rest. Speaker system could be a little bit louder.
FOOD:
Classic Cheeseburger
Tasty, mainstream version.
SERVICE:
Slow but friendly. Food was delivered to us about 10 minutes into the movie. Drinks came about 1/2 hour later because they forgot to bring it and the server said the bar was backed up.
OVERALL:
Very cool concept, especially since I'm a slow eater. Prices were great and food was surprisingly good. Nice variety of culinary options.

Movie Tavern in Collegeville is a great choice if you want a relaxed movie night with some extra perks. The reclining seats are super comfy, and there’s plenty of legroom—no need to worry about being squished during the film. Ordering food from your seat is really convenient, especially if you want to snack without missing any action. The menu has a good variety, and the popcorn servings are generous. On Tuesdays, the ticket deals and even the occasional free popcorn are a nice bonus. The staff is friendly and works hard to keep things running smoothly, and the theater itself is usually clean and well maintained. Sometimes food service can be a little slow if they’re busy, but overall, it’s an enjoyable experience that makes the usual movie outing feel a bit more special. Definitely recommend it for a casual date night, a hangout with friends, or just to catch the latest flick in comfort.

I’ve been visiting Movie Tavern since they opened, so it’s painfully obvious that the Marcus Theatre acquisition was the beginning of the downfall in many ways. I loath the Greg Marcus intro at the theater for this reason. Though never quite like it was before 2019, I’ve had some visits that have been good, where the service was pleasantly swift and the food decent enough to justify the cost. On most occasions my food has been on the brink of inedible - stale, cold, etc. Fortunately for theatre dining experiences, people generally aren’t willing to miss more of the movie to call back the already overly busy wait staff for a replacement, and I’m not one to try to get anyone in trouble or ask for things to be comped. That said, this past visit I went on a discount Tuesday. Usually this has no negative effect on the already “just ok” experience, however it was my mistake to go see a scary movie the discount Tuesday before Halloween. Keeping in mind they were busier than usual, I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt and only speaking on the details that could be improved for the future. First, I want to highlight that the quality of the service has improved in the past year. Our server was very nice, greeted us immediately, though this was the first time I had to track someone down to pay the bill. I chalk that up to just a little human error, but if this happens to you I encourage you to also seek a server when your movie ends to true up your payment. The pizza was barely cut. Figuring out that it was “cut” into squares instead of traditionally like usual, along with having to manually tear it apart due to the shallow cut, took entirely too much of my attention away from the movie. In addition, it had probably about a 5:1 sauce to cheese ratio, and just like the rest of the food we ordered, was lukewarm at best when it came out. Seeing as the pizza is one of the few things on the menu I’ve ordered that had actually been good, I also feel the need to express that even the smallest pizza box is entirely too large for the tray table, and more awkward than a traditional pizza box. I can’t see how serving it on a tray would be any more costly than serving it in the box, and considering cutting costs is Marcus Theatre’s “thing” you’d think they’d see this value and avoid the customer inconvenience. All in all, this theater is the most convenient so I’ll of course be back, but when comparing it to how it once was, I continue to long for the glory days before Marcus.
