  M&T Bank Center is a nice multi-purpose venue located in downtown Schenectady. The arena is home to the Union College men’s and women’s hockey teams. Capacity for hockey games is 2,200 and the arena can fit up to 3,600 for other events. For Union College hockey the M&T Bank Center replaces the Achilles Center. The new stadium is definitely an upgrade over the Achilles Center. The seats are set up in a bowl arrangement. Sightlines to the ice are excellent. No seat is very far away from the action. All seats are plastic chairbacks. In some areas of the arena there are drink rails where you can stand and watch the game. There are multiple concession stands and a full service bar which is better than what was at the Achilles Center. Prices at the concession stands are normal by stadium prices and the food is good. There is also a nice team gear store located near the front entrance. Although the area around M&T seems to have many parking spots, parking can be a problem here especially when the casino or nearby restaurants are busy. The sound system in the arena is substandard and it can be hard to hear the PA announcer. There are many luxury suites in the arena, which in itself is not a problem, but their placement on the concourse area narrows the walkways and obstructs views. It would be nice to see the rink from the concourse area and concession stands, but this is not possible in some areas. The rink has the amenities of a major NHL stadium packed into a small college rink, which in some ways doesn't work all that well. Hopefully, the sound system can be fixed. Tickets for Union games should be purchased online. Prices are very reasonable. Overall, there is a nice experience to be had here.

  Excellent location along the Mighty Mohawk river down at Mohawk Harbor. Plenty of eateries, places to stay if attending events from out of town, the location couldn't be better. It's great for the city of Schenectady to have it's own adequate events center and arena. The arena itself is designed simply. Classic bowl style seating arrangement with the walk around concourse for food, beverages, and rest rooms appropriately located. I thought the seating was a little on the hard side with very hard plastic chair back style seats which beats the bleacher seats of Union College's Messa Rink. A little disappointed in the cashless concessions and box office as everything requires a card transaction. Lastly disappointed with the public address system. The announcer during Union's hockey games has been difficult to hear from player introductions, announcing goals and penalties, and intermission entertainment. I am hoping the same isn't the case with poor sound and acoustics during concerts or other entertainment. This venue is very important to the city of Schenectady and fills a niche in the region as a nice in between facility sports and entertainment arena. It's a very nice looking facility, I look forward to attending many more hockey and other events there.

  Went to the 1st Union college girls hockey game. The sound system in the rink definitely needs tweaking. You can’t understand a word the announcers saying. The food prices are absolutely insane. For people bring a family to a games, it would cost them a fortune between food and tickets.
