The National Atomic Testing Museum in Las Vegas, Nevada, documents the history of nuclear testing at the Nevada Test Site in the Mojave Desert about 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas. The museum highlights the United States’ nuclear testing program, beginning with the Manhattan Project and its replica of the first atomic bomb. Visitors can experience the rumble of a test in the Ground Zero Theatre and follow a scavenger hunt to the World of Fallout exhibit, which draws parallels to mid-20th-century atomic history and how it inspired art, entertainment, and our imagination.

The Atomic Museum was hands‑down the best pre‑war ruin I’ve ever explored without needing power armor. Five stars. The exhibits are so authentic I kept checking my Pip‑Boy for rads, and the Cold War section had me convinced a Vault‑Tec rep was about to pop out and offer me ‘a once‑in‑a‑lifetime opportunity.' If you’ve ever wanted to know what life was like before the Great War, minus the super mutants, feral ghouls, and questionable Nuka‑Cola flavors... this place is a total blast! The nukes are deactivated (I asked), the staff are friendly (not synths, probably), and the gift shop didn’t try to sell me a Vault 33 jumpsuit… though I would’ve bought one. 10/10—would revisit before the bombs drop.”

Me and my wife took in the Atomic Museum on a Saturday morning when it first opened. It was a 45 min bus ride from our hotel. Building was surprisingly new. My wife doesn't care much for this type of museum, but she loved it. Exhibits were well laid-out and informative. We lucked out to see the Fallout Computer Game and TV series exhibit they had. Only thing I didn't like was the barriers that they put around the robots or Fallout characters that you want to take pictures with. The ticket staff shows he did not want to be there, and had an attitude. Get there before the crowds arrive, not allot of room inside.

Incredible resource and 20+ years in the making. You could spend a good half day or more if you read everything, watched the movie, did the interactive exhibits. Most people will spend less time unless your nerd-factor is high (mine is). Nevada residents get a discount on the entry. There are vending machines available with snacks and beverages. Prices were $24.00 per adult (Nevada resident) as of Feb/2026. Out of state pays $5 more?? This is a fairly technical exhibit designed for the consumer. Think x-rays/gamma rays/particle physics/bombs. Not great for little kids, but if you are an adult/young adult, this is an amazing resource chronicling the history of nuclear technology (fission, fusion), nuclear weapons and use in energy, medicine, etc. Highly recommended!
