The National Atomic Testing Museum in Las Vegas, Nevada, documents the history of nuclear testing at the Nevada Test Site in the Mojave Desert about 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas. The museum highlights the United States’ nuclear testing program, beginning with the Manhattan Project and its replica of the first atomic bomb. Visitors can experience the rumble of a test in the Ground Zero Theatre and follow a scavenger hunt to the World of Fallout exhibit, which draws parallels to mid-20th-century atomic history and how it inspired art, entertainment, and our imagination.

It's a real blast. Don't forget to get the self guided tour too. Learned so much in a fun way. Easy museum and yoy won't leave with a nmuseum headache. A true and excellent tribute to those who served or were called to protect the USA

Educational and interesting presentation of an important part of our history the staff I encountered were all friendly and helpful. The Fallout game exhibition was in place when I went which was also cool. Go check it out it took me about 2 hours but I took it slow and looked at everything.

We've lived in the area for over 20 years but never been to the Atomic Testing Museum. We'll, we finally got down there and the effort was well worth it. We've been to the Atom Bomb Museum in Albuquerque several times. That place is focused on the development and building of our nuclear weapons. The Atomic Museum is focused on the testing and refinements of those weapons and it's very interesting. They have some interesting exhibits showing how and what the testing was accomplished. They have quite a few actual pieces that were used and it's telling that they are pretty digital technology. Some tings are big and clunky but reflected the technology of the time. They have a full size replica of The Gadget, Fat Man device and an 8 megaton nuclear weapon. It's well worth the time and expense for those looking to see an integral part of the Las Vegas and Nevada's history.

I love museums and travel a lot. This is probably in my top 3! Loved it, it broke down the history of nuclear science, nuclear weapons, nuclear testing, nuclear energy, and weaved it with American history to tell a great story. When I go to museums I go to learn and absorb as much information as possible. I spent 3.5 hours here. There’s a lot of videos, readings, a movie experience of nuclear testing, interactive activities, and a lot of artifacts and replicas. A fantastic stop for science nerds and history buffs! Not a good place for children though as the subject may not be interesting without a background knowledge of chemistry, physics, and the Cold War. I’d say skip the audio guide. It’s mostly short talks from some scientists, but the museum does a great job at providing enough information without it. Whoever curated this museum did it with so much love!

This is a great National museum to learn about the history of the nuclear weapons testing at the Nevada test site. They have amazing artifacts and exhibits on the Manhattan project and pop culture. Check out the Ground Zero Theatre, interesting and chilling. There is even a special limited time exhibit on the game/show Fallout, which I was surprised to see and enjoyed. The museum store is full of fallout swag as well! Its worth a visit.
