    FIVE-STAR REVIEW FOR STEVEN ECKERT A TRUE HERO & MANAGEMENT GETS A NEGATIVE STAR review! On November 30th, I witnessed one of the most reckless safety situations I’ve ever seen inside a public business. The bathrooms were flooding so badly that water was spreading across the floors where live wires and active floor sockets were located. Instead of shutting off power and clearing the area, management told employees to stand in the water with paper towels, trying to clean it up literally while standing over electrical wiring. One employee, Steven Eckert, stepped up and saved lives that night. Steven who actually works for Verizon and knows electrical hazards better than anyone in that building immediately recognized the danger and told employees to get out of the water. He warned management, he warned coworkers, and when he realized people were still being put in danger, he told the Fire Department, who confirmed how serious the situation was and evacuated the theater. He did everything right. He did everything a responsible adult, employee, and human being should do. And what was his reward? He was fired. Fired for refusing to risk his life and for advising others not to risk theirs. Fired even though the firefighters themselves ordered everyone out of the danger zone. Steven Eckert is a hero, not a problem. His actions prevented injuries or worse. He deserves recognition, not retaliation. If management had the integrity this man showed, this situation never would have happened in the first place.
