We came in today with our students for a field trip, about 50 people. I want to shout out the service we received for our lunch. Tony and his trainee Avery, knocked it out of the park. Their service along with all the others cooking and delivering food to us was top notch. The food was delicious and they were very accommodating. Overall, we had a great experience there but exceptional service from Tony, Avery, and the kitchen staff. We'll done guys. Thank you.
I wanted to give them five. We booked sight unseen for our sons 14th birthday party. They Bowled, played on the arcade did Lazer tag and we paid extra for VR. Bowling was fun, food was great, solid service. The issues we noticed were the equipment glitching a fair amount in Lazer Tag and several games were out of order or had ERR on their displays. There were a few completely shut off. The VR was okay, but the Godzilla game only had one headset available.
Security was noticably available staff was super kind and helpful but there wasn't anyone proactively servicing machines at all.
I was so excited to have another place to hang out in greensboro, but I was very disappointed. At first when you walk in to pay the options are very confusing (and expensive) and when you are purchasing bowling the options are confusing. There is a lack of employees at the front maybe except one high schooler. The place where you get pizza and drinks was closed but no sign so we sat there waiting until a high schooler came and rudely told us it was closed. The experience was ok we had fun but there is a customer service problem, I think this place has a lot of potential but they really need to talk to there employees about service. When we started bowling I’m pretty sure someone was supposed to take our drink order but we had to go find someone and ask after are first game was completely finished. I maybe came on a wrong day but I wanted better.

Fun concept, confusing execution. “All-You-Can-Play” didn’t include arcade games, systems were unclear, gift cards were misleading, and costs added up fast.
We spent Christmas Day at Main Event Greensboro as a family with kids ages 3, 8, 10, and 12, drawn in by their advertised holiday special: $14.99 All-You-Can-Play plus a free $10 Fun Card. It sounded like a slam dunk—bowling, laser tag, arcade games, food, and festive fun after presents. What we actually got was more like an escape room… except the puzzle was figuring out how anything worked.
🎄 The “All-You-Can-Play” That Wasn’t
First surprise: arcade games are not included in “All-You-Can-Play” at this location. Instead, it only covered billiards, shuffleboard, bowling, and laser tag. This key detail was buried so deeply that even Indiana Jones wouldn’t have found it. The free $10 Fun Card? Arcade-only. Clear? Not even a little.
🖥️ The Monitor of Mystery
We signed up for bowling and saw our name on a big monitor. Naturally, we assumed this meant we were “in line.” So we waited. And waited. And let the kids burn through their Fun Cards while waiting. And reloaded cards.
Later we discovered: we could have bowled at any time. The monitor was not a waitlist—it was more of a decorative suggestion. This was not obvious to us or, apparently, to anyone else.
👶 The 3-Year-Old Exclusion Clause
Our 3-year-old could only participate in bowling. No laser tag, no shuffleboard, no billiards (shocking, I know). So for the youngest guest, “All-You-Can-Play” really meant “All-You-Can-Watch.”
🎮 Broken Games + Skeleton Crew
Many arcade games weren’t working, and staffing was extremely limited. We understand it was Christmas Day, but if you advertise being open with specials, it’s reasonable to expect more than a skeleton crew holding the fort.
🍹 ID Required for the Clearly Middle-Aged
All adults in our group are well over 40. Still, no ID = no drink, even for people who look closer to retirement than prom. Some non-driving adults didn’t have IDs on them, so festive drinks were a no-go.
💳 The Gift Card Trap
This one deserves special recognition. We brought $100 in pre-purchased e-gift cards for food, drinks, and games. Per staff instruction, we converted them to physical cards at the front desk.
Only after doing so were we told:
➡️ Once converted, they can only be used for games.
➡️ They cannot be used for food or drinks.
➡️ They cannot be converted back.
This was a surprise we absolutely did not ask for.
💸 The Cost of “Salvaging Christmas”
Trying to keep spirits high (because… Christmas), we powered through the confusion, bought food, reloaded cards, and made the best of it. Total cost by the end of the day: about $700, far beyond what we expected when we walked in.
🎁 Final Verdict
At bedtime, we reviewed the day with the kids. Verdict:
✔️ Christmas was great
✔️ Family time was great
❌ Main Event was not
They all agreed they’d happily repeat the day next year—minus Main Event.
This place could be fantastic, but the unclear advertising, confusing systems, inconsistent staff knowledge, and hidden limitations made the experience feel deceptively planned and poorly managed. If you go, read every word of the fine print, ask lots of questions, and assume nothing—even if your name is on a screen.
Recommendation: Fun concept, rough execution. Proceed with caution—and maybe a spreadsheet.
I am writing to formally express my disappointment and frustration regarding the experience at my recent party event at your location. Given the amount of money spent and the expectations set by your brand, the overall delivery was extremely lackluster and unacceptable.
First, I would like to address the coupon that was sent by Main Event to be utilized by all party guests. Upon attempting to redeem the coupon, it was not honored. The only staff member who was genuinely helpful was a woman named Tee, who was assisting at the bar. Unfortunately, the young lady who was called to assist afterward advised that there was “nothing she could do.”
I was given multiple conflicting explanations:
Initially, I was told the onsite manager was unavailable because they were handling cast posting in the office.
Then I was told the coupon could only be used one time.
Next, I was told it could only be used on a future purchase.
I was further advised that just because corporate sent the coupon, the location “has nothing to do with it” and that it could not be honored.
I was told this information came from Vernon Cockcroft.
Additionally, the same staff member essentially dismissed the concern by stating that it was “not their fault” and that I would need to “take it up with corporate.” This response was unprofessional and showed a complete lack of ownership or customer care.
The only apology we received was from another staff member, who stated, “This happens all the time, I’m not surprised.” Hearing this was extremely concerning, as it suggests this is a known and recurring issue that has not been addressed.
Throughout these interactions, we were met with attitude and confusion, as if the error was ours rather than a failure in communication or execution on Main Event’s end. This was embarrassing in front of our guests.
As for the party itself, while our hostess was wonderful and did her best, the overall experience fell far short of what was paid for:
We were moved from seating that we were explicitly told we would have for the entire party.
Our food had to be relocated and was cold when served.
We did not receive unlimited drinks as promised.
Another staff member questioned us by saying, “What are we doing?” as we attempted to get drinks that were included in our package.
For an event that was prepaid and planned in advance, the experience was disorganized, poorly managed, and disappointing. Based on this experience, I will not be returning to Main Event and will not be recommending it to others unless this matter is properly addressed. I am requesting a formal review of this incident, clarification on the coupon policy that was clearly communicated incorrectly, and appropriate compensation for the services that were not delivered as promised.
I look forward to your response.
