What a delight! This place is the most interactive, welcoming and educational aquarium/reptarium we have ever been to. The animals act like pets rather than wild animals. The staff are warm and approachable, inviting kids to interact and learn and making us feel like guests. The passports are both engaging and educational.
Highlights of our visit include: holding a snake that was actually cuddly, petting capybaras that rolled over for belly rubs, and sticking our hands in the Dr fish tank to be endlessly tickled.
This place is a really long drive for us, but we will be back. It's a really special experience.

If you know anything about reptile/exotic mammal husbandry or care this place is a NIGHTMARE :( most enclosures were insanely small and with ZERO hides. A giant maybe 5/6 ft bull snake in what looked like an 17 inch tall and wide ( they don't even climb) enclosure that the lock was totally busted on. A huge tokay gecko in a square enclosure just as long/ wide as its body. The bigger yellow snake i held had super crunchy flaky scales which is a sign of bad humidity and shedding over time. Really bad Clogged pores and scars on the rhino iguanas. I can tell the substrate they are using is not right for the higher humidity species. The animals were constantly out for interaction and the employee I spoke to said this one gecko and beardies are allowed to be out all day like this… EVERYDAY.11-7 i dont know as much about fish keeping but I saw dead glowing fish, koi frozen solid in the pond outside, and kids with total access to the fish at the spa area.(picking the fish out of the water and hitting them!!) the employee bouncing between two different touching fish tanks trying to control the kids. All the bigger reptiles tortoises and mammals had nowhere near the space they should and the literal house cats are so unacceptable. They are very clearly money focused and don’t have the animals wellbeing in mind. Looked more into the owners and found they bred ball pythons that had neurological conditions purposely because they made money and the colors were pretty. The condition makes life so difficult for the snakes. This is what happens when hobbyists and breeders do jobs of professionals. Absolutely shameful.
Visit the Detroit zoo reptile house for better examples of reptile care. There is a reason most zoos are look don’t touch.. because they actually care about their animals.

I’ve visited multiple times before, and while the new location looks nice, the customer service was extremely poor. We had guests and kids with us who were excited, and they ended up very disappointed. We repeatedly asked to hold or interact with snakes or other reptiles and were told to wait, but no one ever came. We asked multiple staff members, and each one passed us off to someone else without helping. Being ignored like this completely ruined the experience. A good location doesn’t make up for very poor customer service.

Been there twice in the last couple of weeks. 1st I took my son in law there. He talked my daughter into going about a week later. Place is amazing. One minute my daughter was nervous about the snakes next thing she had a burmese python dropped around her neck. A couple smaller snakes helped her get 1st. I saw another person having a panic attack seeing the snakes. I watched her get over that as well. Staff is very patient and compassionate about people having good experience with the animals. I can easily see this being a new years tradition with my family.

We visited today for the first time. We came from lansing. First - front desk was super helpful. All the staff were friendly and informative. My kids got to hold the alligator, a few different snakes just passing through which was unexpected but totally awesome.
BUT the main purpose of this review- we did the capybara experience ( high priced in my opinion but whatever) my daughter who is a type one diabetic instantly noticed the worker ( can’t remember her name for the life of me) also had type one diabetes. She was honestly the BEST! Not only was she super informative about the animal but took time to share her experience with diabetes and told my daughter she could literally do anything she wanted in life and that just because she has diabetes it does not limit her. This might not be a huge deal to others but that interaction really stuck out to not just me but my daughter! It is nice being able to see your 9 year old daughter see working adults with the same diagnosis. I hope the worker knows how much we appreciated her kindness.
