  This is a beautiful period theatre but it's not fit for modern day audiences, especially at full capacity. The seats are incredibly tight and very uncomfortable to sit in for any length of time and when sitting down the wooden part of the seat base scrapes against the back of your legs. Also before the show started, going to the toilet ended feeling like a challenge as the location of them along with trying to get through everyone at the bar and people stood in the corridors, made it quite challenging just to reach them.

  Went to see paranormal activity tonight 29th September...it was Amazing the actors were outstanding.wrll done to all involved.

  Went to see Lucy Worsley here. Enjoyed the show. Unfortunately, I did not receive the VIP treatment I paid extra for as I was supposed to miss queuing. The queuing situation was very unorganised and people were unsure as to which section of the theatre they should be queuing for. This was very unprofessional and the staff at this point were not helpful.

  Nice enough theatre. Asked to arrive for 7 by the venue, but then everyone kept in the bar area until about 7.15 and it didn't feel a big enough bar for the whole of the stalls

  We went to the Grand Opera House (GOH) to hear a talk by Lucy Worsley. The building is a bit tired looking from the outside and like most theatres the seats are a bit uncomfortable. However, there was a large bar area and snack shop too. The GOH operates an interval ordering system that sees bags with seat numbers being brought in - so you don't have to leave your seat if you don't feel like it. The GOH has a very wide ranging programme, so well worth considering if in York even on a short trip.
