Originally The New Theatre, it opened on Boxing Day, 1912. It went through several iterations, being renamed once before becoming the Opera House in 1920. It's also been used for different functions; as a cinema in WW2, then a bingo hall before reopening as a theatre again in 1984. Since, it has hosted magnificent shows like Barnum and Phantom of the Opera.

My first visit. Several aircon units did their best to keep the temperature down.

We had an excellent visit seeing Something Rotten. The cast were amazing and all so talented. Such a fun and funny show. Reminded me a little of the silliness and musicality of Monty Python. The staff couldn't do enough and when a member of our group was struggling with where we were sitting feeling clauraphobic and also noisily eating audience members we were moved without an issue. Our new seats were perfect, on the end of an aisle and lots more room. Thank you so much to the lovely front of house staff member who helped us and didn't make us feel as though we were making a fuss.

I was recently at the Manchester Opera House for the first time. There weren't many seats available and we got row Z in the stalls. This is the very last row and they weren't sold as restricted view seats. However, the circle overhangs the last 10 rows of the stalls and we couldn't see the top third of the stage. We couldn't even see the heads of the performers standing on the first level of the set. So beware. We paid normal price and felt cheated.
At least the seats in the stalls were comfortable and the leg room was good.

"Something Rotten"
An absolutely brilliant and hilarious night out! I saw the UK premiere of Something Rotten! at the Opera House Manchester and it is an absolute must-see—especially for anyone who loves theater.
The highlight of the show is easily the hilarious, clever Shakespeare references woven into almost every scene.
The cast is phenomenal, the energy is infectious, and the comedy hits perfectly. If you want a laugh-out-loud, feel-good musical and the set is amazing too!
It's only got a few days left, but I sincerely hope it'll come back to the west end!
The seats where F14.
