## Disappointing Second Experience at The Lion King
I attended *The Lion King* at the Lyceum Theatre today with my parents and daughter, and unfortunately this experience was not nearly as enjoyable as my first.
I live in Italy and we are currently in London on vacation. I originally watched the show with my daughter in March while sitting in the Stalls, and the performance was so remarkable that when my parents came to visit, I knew I wanted to bring them as well. This time, we sat in the Royal Circle, seats G43–46.
The biggest issue was how warm and uncomfortable the theatre felt. My parents were noticeably uncomfortable because of the temperature, and I know we were not the only ones who felt this way, as at least three other parties around us commented on it as well.
There were also several audience members using their phones during the performance. I did see an usher address approximately two people, but the phone use continued to be distracting. There was also a man to our right speaking loudly during the show, and no member of staff came down to address him. Instead, other audience members eventually had to shush him themselves.
Another issue was the sound. At several points, when characters began singing, the vocals seemed too low or the sound balance was off, making the first part of some lines difficult to hear clearly. Again, others around us noticed the same problem.
I understand that theatres cannot control every audience member, but for tickets at this price point, I expected better management of disruptive behavior, a more comfortable temperature, and consistently clear sound.
It is especially disappointing because my first experience with *The Lion King* was wonderful enough that I specifically chose to bring my parents during their visit. Unfortunately, this second experience changed my opinion considerably.
As expensive as these tickets were, I expected a much better overall experience. Sadly, based on this visit, I would not recommend the show and I would not personally attend another performance of *The Lion King* at the Lyceum Theatre.

The show was absolutely awesome, and I would definitely recommend it. However, I would take one star off because the seating was quite uncomfortable. There wasn’t enough elevation between the rows, so if you’re of average height and someone taller is sitting in front of you, it is difficult to see the full stage.
We paid quite a lot for good seats in Row E, but unfortunately, we still had to keep moving our heads around to get a clear view around the people sitting in front of us. The seating arrangement really needs better elevation to ensure everyone has a good view of the stage.
The show is 5/5, absolutely breathtaking, moving, and exciting.
Let me say a few words about the theatre itself, because I've probably never been to a worse one.
For starters, the tickets tell you to be there an hour in advance, apparently just so you could be directed to the waiting area/bar/gift shop and cramped there for at least 30 minutes before they finally open the concert hall. The area is pretty small and hot. There is no official cloakroom. If you're lucky, and they haven't run out of hangers, you can leave your coat in one of the "kiosks".
But the worst happens in the auditorium. Not only are you allowed to bring food in - the food can actually be ordered from your seat and delivered directly to you by the staff! So throughout the show people are eating, making noise, and leaving behind a huge mess. I've never seen anything like it.
It's such a shame because The Lion King is absolutely brilliant.
I believe the artists who give their all and make the show what it is deserve much better setting. And honestly so does the audience.

Excellent show, great staff, accessibility could be better and pre-ordering for the interval did not work well!
We saw The Lion King, and the show was AMAZING! The actors and musicians are first rate, the costumes and scenery are exceptional and we cannot recommend the show itself highly enough.
The staff who welcomed us and showed us to our seats were very helpful and knowledgeable.
Wheelchair access to the stalls is via a door just to the side of the main door. Access to a merchandise area and bar is step free (although the merch stall is smaller than the main one which is up stairs. The staff did say that they could bring things down if required). There are 2 accessible toilets in the corridor, one of which requires a radar key, but both are quite small and can barely fit an average size manual wheelchair. We had pre-ordered ice creams for the interval to be delivered to our seats, but the lights started going down ready for the second act and they still had not arrived. My husband had to go and find a member of staff and get others, but they didn't have all the flavours we had chosen left.
