    I am extremely disappointed with both the Canterbury HMV store and the way my complaint was handled by Customer Service. My complaint related to several high-demand Pokémon Trading Card releases on 22 May and 5 June 2026. On 22 May, more than 20 customers were queueing outside the store before opening. Staff informed customers that only 4 Pokémon Chaos Rising Elite Trainer Boxes (ETBs) were available for sale. However, HMV later told me that the store had received 10 ETBs and that all 10 were sold on the release date. Naturally, I asked what happened to the other 6 ETBs and how the company's "one per customer" policy was applied. I also asked whether any staff members purchased these products, how many staff were involved, and whether staff who were not working that day were allowed to purchase stock without queueing like customers. On 5 June, I was the first customer waiting outside the store and the first customer to enter when it opened. Staff informed me there was no stock available. Later, HMV claimed that stock had been received and sold on the release date. Again, this did not match what I personally experienced. Rather than addressing the key questions I raised, Customer Service repeatedly stated that they were satisfied with their investigation while refusing to explain the discrepancies surrounding the allocation of these Pokémon products. My concerns centred on whether staff members had been given access to stock before customers and how the "one per customer" policy was applied in practice. However, instead of providing clear answers, the company repeatedly relied on generic statements that all sales complied with policy and ultimately refused to engage further. This has left me with the strong impression that HMV is more interested in protecting staff actions than providing transparency and accountability to customers.

    Good selection of of films/tv and music etc. Sometimes the store will not have the particular thing you are looking for in stock so you will need to look at the stock checker on the website and you can order the particular item online and you can pick it up in store. Overall really good.
