  A really easy 29 minute walk from the train station, the kings theatre is a beautiful theatre. The walls around the stage are lovely. Sitting in the front row of the grand circle, I did notice a lack of leg room but that is to be expected

  I’ve been to this theatre several times and I have watched a few great productions. However, the temperature in there is unbearable and unacceptable, especially when we pay so much money to watch the shows.

  I hadn't visited the King's Theatre for years. And I will admit, its a beautiful place, great acoustics, can definitely recommend the King's for a show.

  Extremely Uncomfortable and Unsafe Experience I attended Mamma Mia! on Friday 28 August 2026, and unfortunately, the experience was horrendous. My friend had travelled from Ireland specifically for the show, and what should have been an enjoyable evening turned into an extremely uncomfortable and distressing experience. The heat in the Upper Gallery was unbearable. Although the theatre's thermometer appeared to read 26–27°C (I have a photograph), the conditions felt considerably hotter, with poor ventilation and a packed auditorium. People were visibly sweating, struggling with the heat, and leaving their seats. It was genuinely difficult to breathe comfortably. At 34 weeks pregnant, I found the conditions particularly challenging. I asked a member of staff whether alternative seating was available, but was told the performance was sold out. I eventually had to leave my seat and stand at the back of the theatre simply to get some relief from the heat, leaving my friend to try to watch the performance alone. To make matters worse, the stairs and handrails were covered in condensation when leaving, creating what appeared to be a serious slip hazard. As someone who was heavily pregnant, I found this frightening and completely unacceptable. I understand that this is an older theatre and may not have air conditioning, but that cannot excuse conditions in which audience members are struggling to remain seated and condensation is forming on stairs and handrails. Audience safety and comfort should come before maximising ticket sales. We paid for an evening of entertainment and instead experienced an environment where I couldn't remain in my seat, let alone enjoy the performance. I had formally requested a full refund from ATG which has been denied highlighting the theatre's utter lack of regard for their customers. Based on this experience, I would strongly urge anyone considering booking to think carefully about the conditions they may encounter, particularly during warmer weather or if they have mobility, pregnancy or other health-related considerations. A deeply disappointing experience, and unfortunately one that has left me with no desire to return.

  Worst experience ever. Went to see the off the hook tour and the layout of the gallery is unbearable, I can't believe this place is still open. The seats are so close to each other that you can't even get past people, you literally have to climb through the back rows to try get out. Something else this horrible place needs to fix is the HEAT. Many people were having to walk out mid show because of how bad it was to breathe, already being cramped up in small places but no ventilation on top of it is insane. This place does not care about any of the people in it, they clearly just want to cram as many people in as they can so they can make more money. I don't usually write bad reviews like this but it has deeply upset me how ignorant they are to fixing a problem they have obviously had for a long time. Please fix it, it is not safe for people.
