First time at Odeon and honestly a pretty disappointing experience… We went on 29th August for the 6pm(ish) film, One Night Only. The film itself was actually really good 😂 We went expecting a cheesy rom com for a girls night and were NOT expecting it to be so freaky 😭 but we both found it funny and entertaining. The cinema itself is very old and outdated and definitely needs a refurb. We also had some issues with the ticket machine as my friend had discounted tickets. We were trying to work it out and looking around for help for about 10 minutes. Honestly shocked at the lack of staff because not one person came over to help. There was a guy with light hair and glasses nearby checking tickets. We waved at him a few times and he made eye contact with us but didn’t bother helping, then went on his phone right in front of customers. We ended up having to figure it out ourselves and manually put the code in. Not long after, we saw him on his phone AGAIN, walking around near the food area looking like he didn’t really know what he was doing. Food was another issue. I paid around £16 for chicken strips, mozzarella sticks and a drink. The chicken strips were actually nice, but the mozzarella sticks were awful. Really dry, with the cheese coming out and drying up around the outside, and barely anything inside. Definitely not what I expected for the money. I wouldn’t even complain about the price if they actually tasted nice. The film was great and we did enjoy ourselves, but the actual cinema experience was a let down. Gutted lowkey, expected a lot better customer service tbh.

Great experience watching brand new day with my mate and great screen and Unencumbered space. However I paid so much for the tickets of 2 with the tickets and it being 3d which no staff helped me out fully with the glasses and I had to go to the app to show it which took 8 mins but comes across a very pedantic staff which is brownish blond women with glasses which I wanted only the bucket for brand new day where she makes me overpay and also to but the cup with it , but excuse me ????? , what type of scam is that which costed me another near 50 pounds, when I last time watched fantastic four i got to buy the bucket separate . But what I can say is that odeon has come across really far with the experience and marketing towards the movies with awesome memorabilia. But odeon if u want to get something fixed pls fix ur prices and let customers buy separate stuff which cineworld has done.

A big shout out to Louis. He went above and beyond. A credit to the odeon Southend. If only all staff were like him.

The staff are usually nice, and the screens are big and sound is good however, in my opinion, the tickets are extremely overpriced and not very justifiable. The seats are quite uncomfortable, and the price doesn't get you anything more than just an average cinema experience. It's around £20 a person, barely including popcorn and drinks, and with the cheapest seats too. Personally, I only visit this cinema as it's closest to me and I'm sure others can relate. To improve, I would love for the Odeon to be a bit more special, like with maybe some fancier seats (especially if you pay for premium) or they could lower the prices a bit. I understand that it's hard to run a cinema, but Movie Starr in Canvey is a wonderful cinema and for me it offers the exact same as the Odeon does, only £15 cheaper.
