  First time visiting the Edinburgh Playhouse. Stunning traditional theatre, attentive staff and facilities were great. On the stage this evening was The Jersey Boys. What a show! See it before it finishes it's run.

  Such a beautiful theatre, staff incredibly kind and helpful. Super easy to find our seats and once in them on the front row of the dress circle they were comfortable and didnt feel cramped as reviews I'd read prior had suggested, plenty of leg room!

  Kevin Bridges Edinburgh playhouse seen him.last night was it funny a little was it a great show a little . After the show there was not that OMG that was amazing nothing from the customers heading home . I thought it was okay in bits but would not pay to see him again

  The show was excellent but let down by staff with no people skills. It was the young women in our section that ruined the experience for us. They were pretty brutal with no soft skills of dealing with the public. As an older member of society, I went home really annoyed by their attitude which ruined a treat for myself and the children. This experience on Saturday 19th September 2026 at the afternoon performance of Annie (excellent production) On a footnote the booster seats for the children are awful and we had to share as I had three children and the staff would only given me two!!

  I visited Edinburgh Playhouse during the Fringe Festival, and this review is probably as much about Michelle Wolf as it is about the theatre itself. I was extremely happy to get tickets very close to the stage for her stand-up show. I had loved Michelle Wolf from what I had seen in the media — her very personal point of view, her intelligence and the way she can take something seemingly simple and find a completely unexpected angle in it. Seeing her live was even better. Sometimes she would almost casually say something that sounded completely ordinary, and the audience would already be giggling because everyone knew she was taking us somewhere. She has brilliant timing and storytelling, and the room seemed to be laughing almost constantly. She is an amazing performer. The Playhouse itself added a lot to the experience. It has that grand, old-fashioned theatre atmosphere that you simply don't get in a modern black-box venue. Going inside, finding your seat and just looking around at the auditorium is part of the evening. What also impressed me was how professionally everything was organised. The staff were extremely helpful and efficient, even with a full house. The whole place felt clean and well managed. Even the toilets were spacious and clean, and at least on the men's side there wasn't a significant queue despite the number of people in the building. During Fringe there are thousands of performances competing for your attention, but Edinburgh Playhouse will definitely be one of the venues I check when choosing shows next time. I hope I'll be back at the Edinburgh Fringe again — and when I am, I'll certainly be checking what's on the Playhouse menu.
