We were watching The Bodyguard 2.30pm today. A lady feeling sick was moved into the stall right at the back. Seat number 1 If anyone becomes ill. Feeling sick after watching the production on Saturday 15th who is sat in this area. Beware they moved a lady feeling sick near you. Who had previously sat somewhere else in the theatre? So two contamination sites? They move people into the contingency that feel ill. Something to consider when booking seats.

Always a great place to see a show. Beautiful building and great view from almost all the seats. Staff are always incredibly friendly, even the security teams. You often have to empty out water bottles but can refill for free from the jugs of water provided at the bars. There are lots of toilets spread around the venue, the usual queues for the ladies but they have done their best in the limited space and historical buildings.

Hippodrome is lovely, theatre tour is absolutely not ! Waste of money, the only “unusual” part was being allowed to stand on stage for a bit and even then, no photos allowed 😬 Guides were self absorbed and although some info was ok, details of their specific covid times stories was not. Sitting down in various areas that most people will already have done, does not constitute a tour. Very disappointing.

The production and cast was amazing, but in terms of a venue, I don’t think I would recommend it. I haven’t ever experienced having to queue to get into a theatre, normally the doors are opened well in advanced and people can filter into their seats. However, we were all still in a giant queue down the street at the show start time. This is particularly not great for people with health conditions/disabilities. The seats were very uncomfortable, I struggled with leg room and my 6ft5 partner definitely struggled! The mobile ordering seemed a good way to avoid the mad rush in the interval.

Staff were lovely and the production of Miss Saigon was fantastic. Don’t book a seat in the upper circle. In my opinion they were much to lenient with latecomers and people exiting / entering the circle which, because of the bright lights outside the auditorium meant that it was distracting every time someone opened the door. The seats in the upper circle were not comfortable and they were not staggered so any scenes in the centre front of the stage (a lot of the sad emotional scenes) were quite badly obstructed by the 5’8” (ish) balding man in the row infront. I am 5’10” so if you’re smaller that could be very frustrating. Up in the upper circle, I felt that the sound was disappointing. It sounded (and looked) as though the closest speakers were right by the stage, so we struggled to hear some quite a few of the words because of how quiet it got by the time it reached us. The pit orchestra sounded great, but because of the distance (I very much assume they were miced up) it felt like you were listening to them from the next street over. I was sat in the middle of the upper circle and I will not be coming back to see anything if I need to sit in the upper circle.
