  The Theatre Alexandra was a huge disappointment in terms of the venue itself. The seats are uncomfortable and cramped, and the visibility from the Grand Upper Circle is absolutely dreadful. If someone tall or with a large head sits in front of you, you can easily lose 70% of the view of the stage. For the price of a ticket, this is simply unacceptable. On top of that, people were eating and drinking in their seats as if they were at a street market, creating a noisy and distracting atmosphere rather than the enjoyable, respectful environment you would expect at a theatre. The only thing that saved the evening was Burlesque, which was absolutely incredible! The performers and the show itself were fantastic, but the venue seriously detracted from the overall experience. My advice: enjoy the show, but think twice before booking seats in the Grand Upper Circle. A great production deserves a much better venue experience.

  Lots of the dance The dancing was lovely BUT. Very sadly the base sound was so strong that my friend could only take 1/2 hour of it and by the interval I had earache and my chest hurt from the intensity, so we left . Even when the artist was singing with a small choir , the base was just as bad I know others complained. For me it has been on my bucket list but how sad that it was spoilt

  Visited to see Lord of the Dance on 4 October and I'm unsure if my criticism is aimed at the right place or not. The sound was TERRIBLE. I don't know if it was a production thing or whether the sound mixing guy was having a really, really bad day. I've seen this show 5 times and have watched it countless times online and on DVD, so I know the musical scores pretty well. The music here however was completely drowned out with the level of bass - it was ridiculously high and totally unnecessary, especially for a venue of that size. Every so often and for a few seconds, the music was audible before the ear splitting bass kicked in again. It totally spoiled the show. That, together with leg room that makes Ryanair look positively spacious, will make me think twice about coming here again.

  Lovely theatre and helpful staff. Not sure if I missed a lift but one would be good for customers who find the stairs challenging. Bar was pricey, which is usually the way-would benefit from more seating. Some lovely decor in different areas of the building. Had got upper grand circle seats that were stated as restricted view. I was pleasantly surprised with the view, wasn't bad at all.

  What a great theatre! We had such a lovely evening, and from the door staff to the ushers, the staff were some of the best I’ve come across. A special mention has to go to Hollie, who made our evening even better simply by being so cheerful, welcoming and warm. She was an absolute delight and a real credit to the theatre. My only slight criticism would be the price of the drinks, which are very expensive. However, I suspect this is partly the price we pay for maintaining such a beautiful theatre! While I’d prefer the drinks to be a little more in line with average prices, I do appreciate the need to ensure Birmingham continues to have such a wonderful venue. Overall, a great night in a beautiful theatre with absolutely fantastic staff. We’ll definitely be back.
