Went for my sister’s birthday and was so fun! However, little kids are annoying and scare the fish, but it’s not the place’s fault, though it was quite irritating for me. My favourite part was the jellyfish section if only it wasn’t ruined by screaming children.
As for wheelchairs, it was decent, though some paths were thinner than others. There is also an option of going in a lift or stairs, which I find quite helpful.
We had a lovely visit to SEA LIFE Birmingham and enjoyed seeing the different marine animals, especially the sharks, rays and colourful tropical fish. The aquarium is clean, well presented and makes for a nice family day out.
That said, considering the price of admission, there is still room for improvement. The attraction feels quite small, and we expected to see a wider variety of sea life and exhibits for the amount we paid.
One piece of advice for anyone planning to visit: book your tickets online in advance. The website advertised tickets from around £19, but buying them at the entrance cost us £28 per person, which is a significant difference. Booking ahead can save you a good amount of money.
Overall, it’s an enjoyable attraction and worth visiting, but with a few more exhibits and better value for money, it could be an even better experience.

Not great. Unfortunately many viewings had next to none sea animals and each section we went to was a repeat of the previous sea animal. It lacks variety. The QR codes to read more information on the animal did not work. Its quite dark (which I appreciate maybe better for the sea life). However this could have bettered the experience if there was staff at stations to engage with children and inform us on the animals we are looking at. There were barely any staff around. It was like walking around a deserted sea life centre. Unfortunately, the pricing isn't justifiable. If it was less then I would consider it as good for value.

I was disappointed by the penguin enclosure. The indoor environment looked dated, shabby and highly artificial, with particularly poor fake rockwork that looks more like a theme-park set than a habitat for living animals.
Given the high entrance price, it would be encouraging to see some of that revenue invested in improving conditions for the animals. While I appreciate that the penguins may receive good day-to-day care, welfare is about more than food and veterinary attention. The enclosure appears lacking in the naturalistic and stimulating environment that such intelligent and active birds deserve. I would expect far greater investment in creating a habitat that better supports their wellbeing and reflects modern standards of animal care.

For people living within Birmingham it’s an absolute treat to have such a good Sea Life Centre within Birmingham City Centre. Considering how it look from the outside, it’s really big and fun for the kids and adults, with a variety of sea creatures. Really great family experience and would advise to take a trip. Also a variety of places to eat near the canals aswell.
