Hi there to who it may concern I visited the Birmingham hmv store at the vault Birmingham we went to Birmingham ballroom store at 9:00 a.m. To try and get the buzz lightyear card however we've read the poster wrong which led us to the HMV Birmingham store.
On arrival the staff at hmv Birmingham Bullring were very helpful to point us in the right direction for the lorcana event. That was meant to be taking place in Birmingham. We saw some marketing on Facebook which advertised this and because it was lorcana event my girlfriend was really excited to go as it's her past time hobby
However we get to the store, we ask about the buzz lightyear card and got told the event wasn't happening at all and it was Monday....
Low & behold I had someone text me about someone popping into their shop and attending the event.
Not once did we try to scalp products or try to take advantage of this promo card in any way or even abuse pack limits for the lorcana set worlds reign.
However when we asked the lady there was an elder gentleman that wasn't very happy for us, and very assertive with his words nothing lorcana was happening today and then we look at hmv videos for the event and it took place later in the day. My girlfriend and I was very disheartened by this and we feel that we got lied too and all our time was wasted after arranging childcare and time out of our day.
To have this information said to us to return on Monday and nothing was even said to us about the event or anything which my girlfriend wanted to attend. We didn't know anything about it, I honestly feel like we were deterred away from the HMV store maybe because staff thought we was scalping or something like that. The thing is my girlfriend only purchased packs too and if we was going to scalp or take advantage I would've purchased some packs as well.
And I never this was just an event for my girlfriend to enjoy as we had the day off. And to see it publicly posted in videos and social media channels i thought it was disgusting that we were lied too..this was around 9:10am-9:15am.
I don't know if we caused a problem to the elder gentleman. We also got told how much quantity there was of the promo card but in a visual way with hands but no numbers. I feel like we deterred away and felt like we were coming off resellers.
Why did this happen and why did we not get told about the event even though it happened. Also why did we get told to come back and also lastly we never even got our receipt. The lady was nice who served us but she asked the elder gentleman who was working who gave us that information. I actually get so upset for her because the time we got back home it would've finished the time it would've taken us to return.
Also I would like to mention I saw a Facebook post which I can add after your reply for the 20th of June and he was being so rude and adamant about the situation. Didn't even say sorry too so I don't know why so much miscommunication was mentioned to us.
The only reason we came to Birmingham that day was to enjoy the event and to get the card for her collection.
This was a huge disappointment for our day, especially seeing everything on socials and hearing that the event did take place.
Tried to ring the store 4 Time's today and no reply and HMV do charge to call the store at 7p per minute
Also I've wrote an email rang the store again and no reply...

Went here for a signing for Maisie Peters and had the best experience. The staff were all incredibly friendly especially the security staff. They all seemed genuinely interested and were incredibly helpful and went down the queue when new people arrived to explain how the event would work.

HVM stores are disappearing from towns so visit in this one was really nice surprise. The area of the store was real shock for me, some supermarkets are smaller :)
Please return to the store the order was placed with your receipt for a member of staff to assist you further. When will my order arrive in store?
The majority of orders placed in store generally arrive within approximately 7-10* working days, however, delays can sometimes unavoidably occur and it may take longer for an item to be replenished but we'll actively attempt to source your item for a period of 28 days.*Please note that certain items may take longer to source than the average 7-10 days and may take longer to arrive in store.
Do Gift Cards expire?
Gift Cards are valid for 24 months from the date of purchase. If the card is used during this period the expiry date is extended by a further 24 months from the date of the last use.
Use constitutes spending, adding value or simply making a balance enquiry in one of our hmv or FOPP stores, or over the phone using our automated service.
How do I buy/use a Gift Card?
You can purchase a Gift Card at your local hmv or FOPP store. Simply ask a member of staff at the till and they'll be able to add any amount of your choosing up to the value of £250. When spending a gift card, you can use it as part payment and any remaining balance will remain on the card for 24 consecutive months from the date last used. What's also great is you can use a Fopp gift card in all hmv stores and vice versa.
How do I check my Gift Card balance?
Any member of staff in-store will be able to check the balance of your hmv Gift Card. Alternatively, you can call your local store and select option 4 to check the balance over the phone. Details of your local store can be found here: hmv.com/store-finder. Additionally, you can call our customer service line and use our automated service to check and extend a currently active card - simply ring 03333 234 754 and follow the options.
What is your in store returns policy?
We will exchange or refund most items purchased in error, or unwanted gifts, provided that they are returned to any hmv or FOPP store unopened, unused, unworn, and in perfect condition within 21 days of purchase and accompanied by a valid receipt. Some exclusions apply including, but not limited to: store.hmv.com purchases [please visit our online returns articles for more] Gift Cards, Products containing downloadable content including but not limited to UltraViolet codes, Food and beverages, Digital and games credit and subscriptions, PC games. These products are excluded from our Returns Policy and can only be returned in accordance with your statutory rights
Do you offer student, NHS or UK Forces discount?
We do not currently offer any discounts of this nature.
What vouchers/gift cards do you accept?
We currently accept a number of third-party vouchers, including (but not limited to) vouchers issued by Love2shop and any card bearing the Flexecash logo. All vouchers/cards must be within their expiry dates.
What forms of ID do you accept?
We accept Photo Driving Licences and Passports and any cards featuring the PASS (Proof of Age Standards Scheme) hologram, eg. CitizenCard, Connexions Card, Portman Group Card, Validate UK and Young Scot, subject to our discretion.
Can I collect my order at another store?
Orders can not be transferred between stores and will need to be collected from the store it was originally placed.
Is my in store order ready to collect?
If you provided a mobile number when you placed your order, we'll keep you updated by text message at regular intervals should there be any delays and will send you a final text message as soon as your order has arrived at the store and is ready to collect.
