The Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Southbury, opened their doors in December of 2011 and we have created an elegant, friendly, no pressure environment in which our students can learn great dance from world class instructors. Our most important priorities are that our students have fun while they improve their dance skills. Fred Astaire took great pride in a standard of excellence which is still alive and well in our studio. Our instructors have completed a rigorous training program and are Certified teachers. We train and promote our students through the trophy system and have beginners, social dancers, competitors, and advance level dancers. Our unique qualifications both in American and International Styles allow any student to progress from a beginner to any goal they set for themselves in a very short time frame.
We serve the following communities in Connecticut: Southbury, Woodbury, Oxford, Naugatuck, Seymour, Waterbury, Watertown, Ansonia, New Milford, Prospect, Derby, Shelton, Woodbridge, Wolcott, Plymouth, Thomaston, Washington and Huntington, Newtown, Bethel, and surrounding towns.

- HLHannah LeeJul 16, 20255.0My husband and I could not have asked for a better dance teacher than Zlata at Fred Astaire Dance Studio when learning a first dance for our wedding! We came in knowing essentially nothing about dance or what we wanted out of a first dance and left after just a few weeks with a whole routine that we felt confident about and received rave reviews from our guests! Zlata was so patient and encouraging throughout the whole process - she so quickly understood our strengths and weakness and was so much fun to be around. We hope to be back soon to learn a new dance - maybe for our one year anniversary!

We highly recommend taking some lessons if you are on the fence. Diana is amazing at sharing the reasons why you are getting stuck on a move when learning. She solves the issue making the moves more natural and isolates 'problem transitions ' to help you. I can't believe 10 lessons ago we were tripping over our feet to a simple beat. It feels really good to have some technical skills to apply to something we enjoy. Definitely returning after the wedding !

The instructors are friendly, professional, supportive, and dedicated to helping students achieve their own personal dance goals. We are now 5 months in and we are both hooked for life and loving it! We are doing the Tango, Salsa, Foxtrot, Rumba, Merengue, Cha Cha, Mambo, Swing, Hustle, Waltz, Sambo and more. The instructors are some of the most professional, fun and friendly people I've ever met. My only regret is that we didn't sign up sooner! I highly recommend these guys!
