This is a nice park when it's open, however it's not so nice when they decide to close for "weather." It literally did not rain a drop during the day, and it wasn't windy. Additionally, no announcement of the closure was made in the park and people were had to look online. They also are running with fewer rides than in the past(well if they are running at all), even on holidays.
Very lame for a park I used to hold in high regard. I hope they can make up for this visit.

We had so much fun! Family of 4 with a 12 year old and a 3 year old. There was stuff for all ages. Key height was 36" that allowed the 3 year old to go on some rides unattended and some with us. Plenty of options for him. And the big kid had a blast as well. It's free to enter and just walk around and enjoy sites or cross through to the beach. You buy an unlimited pass for rides (worth it if you have 4+ hours and a big kid wanting to go on everything) or a card you fill with credit and tap at the rides of various amounts. We started with one card which we could tap multiple times for # of rides. But ended up getting a second card, so one parent took the big kid and one took the little. Parking is crazy if you are wanting to arrive at opening on a Saturday give yourself plenty of time to wait to get into the parking lot (extra fee), or just come a few hours after opening. You'll still have plenty of time and the park is magical after the sun sets. The pier is not too far and a lovely walk with shops and food.

A perfect mix of fun, food, and ocean views!
The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is such a lively and nostalgic place full of energy, music, and that classic seaside charm. The rides are fun for all ages, the food stands have everything from churros to garlic fries, and the beach right next to it is beautiful for a sunset walk. It’s a bit crowded on weekends, but that’s part of the fun vibe. Definitely a must-visit spot if you’re in Santa Cruz
