My friends and I were very rudely denied admittance for not reflecting their “upscale casual” dress code—which was not clearly advertised on their instagram and Google maps site. Later on we saw people similarly dressed let in with no issue, so it was apparent the enforcement was based on other discriminatory factors.
100% not worth the trip, the staff we interacted with were incredibly condescending.

★☆☆☆☆ “Welcome to The Prickly Cactus / RED BARN, where fashion dies and rats thrive.”
I was denied entry because my plain T-shirt apparently offended their “vision,” and my hat was outlawed—unless it’s a cowboy hat. So it’s less a bar and more a costume party from a parallel universe where cotton is contraband and yeehaw is a legal requirement.
Dress Code:
No hats (…except cowboy hats). No plain tees. Yes to rhinestones, fringe, and whatever the manager’s cousin sells out of a trunk. I watched a guy in a sequined bolo tie get waved in like royalty while I was treated like a felon for wearing…cloth.
Security / Vibe:
The bouncers run on vibes and bad decisions. They were busy policing shirt textures while women were being blatantly groped on the dance floor. When we flagged it, the response was the security equivalent of “boys will be boys” and a shrug so big it needed its own cover charge. Real classy.
Ambience:
Somewhere between rodeo clown chic and taxidermy swap meet. The neon sign buzzes like it’s plotting an exit. Midway through my seltzer, a rat casually crossed the floor like it had a booth reserved. Honestly the most confident patron in the building. Ten out of ten strut.
Drinks:
Ordered a whiskey sour; received a “whiskey sorry.” Tasted like lemon Pledge with abandonment issues. Garnished with an emotion.
Music:
DJ Spotify on shuffle, skipping every chorus like it owes him money.
Pros:
If you’re a cowboy hat, you’ll be treated with dignity.
Cons:
Everything if you’re a human.
Would I return? Only if they lift the ban on cotton, ban the hands-on creeps, and ask the rat to manage the place. It’s the only one showing leadership.

It's back! Red Barn is renovated and classy! The drinks are great as they offer a handful of beers on tap. Perfect place for drinks after a concert or hockey game. Live music on Thursdays is awesome. I wish this place was a bit bigger as size affects: seating, bathrooms, dance floor size. Overall great vibes and drinks.

Intentionally vague dress code unevenly enforced so they can disrespect and turn away customers who don’t fit their straight white conservative vibe. I came here for a birthday with a large group of friends, all dressed to a country western theme (it’s called Red Barn, right?). The website says guests should maintain a “polished appearance” which we interpreted as best we could. When we arrived, a manager was called out to assess our attire and said we looked too “resort casual” and not “upscale casual,” which apparently would have been just fine for a Thursday but definitely not a Saturday night (not sure how we could have guessed this). She made sure to be as condescending and unfriendly as possible when she added that if we “had clothes in the car” we were welcome to change and try to get in again. As she was talking, a group of people wearing similar outfits to ours (jeans, shirts, tank tops, boots) was admitted with no issue. It was clear that this dress code they proudly and “strictly” enforce is just an excuse for them to refuse service to anyone they want and to disrespect those people in the process. It is certainly their prerogative to admit whoever they want into their establishment and it’s our prerogative to take all our “resort casual” money somewhere else.
P.S. Overheard the bouncer call a woman in line a “fatty” and her husband had to politely explain that she was pregnant. Really unbelievable showing from the staff there.

Last night my sister was groped on the dance floor by another woman. I reached out to security and they did absolutely nothing. They allowed this woman to stay in the bar and we were called liars. This place does not care about good service or doing the right thing. The woman who did this to my sister approached us after the incident, screaming at us and called us names. We felt very unsafe and uncomfortable and nothing was done to remedy the situation. I will never be returning to an establishment that doesn’t prioritize safety and allows predatory behavior. This place gives off an elevated vibe, don’t let that fool you. Service is horrible, environment is dangerous and drinks are extremely overpriced.
