I have been dealing with an essentially broken irrigation system for four years now. I was paying about $400 for annual service. Every year they come out and turn it on and I’d get an additional $300+ bill to “ replace diaphragms in this zone this zone and this zone. They’d set it to go off around 4am and I couldn’t see what was going on, all I could see was that my grass was brown and where the sprinkler heads were was green. I called, they came out, told me I needed new diaphragms and replaced some more. Same problem. I reset the start time so I could see what was going on and there was no pressure behind the water coming from the sprinkler heads. Just one little sad stream or just some bubbling and spurting from the sprinkler head. I was told the diaphragms need replaced so often because I have well water and minerals get gunked up in them. But everyone in my neighborhood has well water and every morning when I leave for work I see beautiful pressurized sprinkler systems on in all the other yards. I asked which zone was which so I could know which diaphragms were being changed each year because it seems like they say this is the problem this year, this is the problem this year… the owner (I believe) came out and gave me a map of the system because I complained that all they were doing was changing diaphragms and charging me year after year but nothing was better. He offered to change all of them at once for a LOT of money. I can’t remember if it was $600 or $900, either way it was a lot. Just before they came to winterize last year I asked my neighbor if he had to have diaphragms changed every year. He said no, they (not RCI) just come out and winterize and he starts it up and never has problems. He then came over and helped me troubleshoot it. It turns out one of the zones is constantly open and running even when that zone is no longer supposed to be running which is taking all the water pressure from all of the other zones. We uncovered a sprinkler box in the front yard that was completely covered in grass. How are you checking the system if the box is completely overgrown? And two sprinkler heads by the driveway aren’t even coming up. I just thought I had no sprinklers in that side yard. Needless to say, I’m unhappy, out hundreds and hundreds of dollars for a problem that never got solved and called a different company. I’m sad I never got the help I really needed. Thank God for great neighbors.

If you want to get ripped off this is the place to go. Had several issues with my irrigation system - they continually sent a ‘’mechanic’ with an $85 service fee to replace a $.10 part that wasn’t the issue … instead of addressing root cause they were addressing the symptom as it was advantageous for them. I’ve since switched to Winona Nursery who has been phenomenal. Those folks took the time to address the root cause - couple thousand dollars later (thanks to RCI gassing me with service fees) my issue is resolved. All you RCI customers … check your bills and enjoy the terrible service

Absolutely awful business! I was a customer for 3 years and I can assure you that if you ever need to get a hold of them, it won’t happen. They don’t respond to emails, they don’t pick up the phone, they don’t call back, no communication other then “we are coming this day whether it works for your schedule or not” and “pay us our money”. If you magically get a hold of them, their “customer service” representative is rude and disrespectful. Not to mention their late fee is so high that it equated to 25% of the bill and that gets recharged monthly if you don’t pay on time. Also, in 2024 you can only pay them via check, money order, or over the phone with a credit card. Very behind on the times. I am no longer a customer and I strongly suggest you never become one. Choose a competitor, do not use this company! Edit: Since they responded but I can’t comment back directly. Per their email “your email was sent to our spam folder so we didn’t notice it”. I did contact their phone number but they never picked up. I did send emails but they never responded. Therefore, they do no effectively communicate to their customers, hence the reviews being so polarizing, all 1’s or 5’s. Reader and/or potential customer ask yourself, will your experience be a 1 or a 5? Are you willing to gamble or will your choose someone else that is more consistent? Also I offered to pay for the services and one late fee but they refused to accept it.
