  Sounds like a terrible business. I know I’ll never take anything there myself. Don’t waste any money at this place they will ruin anything you give them.

  BUYER BEWARE! I dropped my cylinder heads off at this machine shop for a simple resurfacing and valve stem seals. I ended up forking over $600 for the job, which I believed was a steep price, but I was in a time crunch. Once I received my cylinder heads back, I started looking into the work that I had just gotten done and found that they put my heads back together incorrectly, marred the head surface uneven, cut into the casting for the exhaust studs, left a rocker arm collapsed, apparently did my valve stem seals yet only cleaned half the valves..?, But the kicker? They also left several pieces of metal shavings in my cylinder ports and coolant/oil passages. I returned to the shop to ask about getting a refund and the owner, Bill McDaniel himself, told me that my issues with his work were “not his problem,” and that metal in the valves and coolant passages were “the responsibility of the mechanic working on the car to clean.” Little did he know that I was the mechanic. When asked about giving me a refund, he told me no flat out, and I left immediately after that. Now I’m stuck with screwed-up cylinder heads that might need to be replaced or rebuilt entirely and out $600 plus the credit fee. 50 years in the business? What a joke.

  I've never been to a machine shop and have never needed machining done so I have no clue about the process. I have an engine that needs to be machined so I asked the man what the process would be. He only told me that he can do whatever I want. Well how the hell do I know what it needs? I just asked him the process and informed him I've never done this before. Then I asked for a range and price point of certain process. He told me I was talking to the wrong person and wanted me to haul the engine and all the parts so they can tell me the price. There's no way there isn't a set price for honing or boring the cylinders. Well he obviously was the WRONG person and now I know it's the WRONG business. Completely rude and unprofessional. I will gladly go elsewhere.
