- KCKelly CawoodJan 7, 20205.0D & M built and installed this gate at my house four years ago and it has worked flawlessly with no issues. The two halves span my 14' driveway and neither one has sagged, cracked, or been a problem in any way. I spent a few dollars more and had them install sealed hinges which never need lube and it's been totally worth it. The gate operates from two 12 volt actuators powered by a 12 volt car battery located in the box on one side of the gate. I ran 120 volt AC power underground from my shop building to the gate box to power a trickle charger connected to the battery. The battery is also four years old and is still running strong. The trickle charger uses very little electricity and I prefer it over a solar panel charger. So far, I'm very happy with this purchase and my choice of D & M four years ago has proven to be correct. Update: Dec 2023 The gate has been operating flawlessly for seven years and has never had any issues with anything.
