  Travis was very polite, very competent, and professional. He explained the problem in a way I could understand and repaired my furnace. Travis worked quickly and kept me informed of all stages of the repair. I will recommend him to everyone I know.

  My partner and I recently bought a home with a 25-year-old oil boiler, our only source of heat and hot water. The previous owners used Atlantic, so we continued purchasing oil from them and reached out about upgrading our system. Bill visited and quoted us $13k for a replacement boiler, despite my explaining that we don’t want to rely on oil long-term. When I later called to ask about pricing for a heat pump water heater, he immediately dismissed it as “the wrong move” and became noticeably irritated—sighing, raising his voice, and talking over me. Trying to end the conversation, I said we’d look elsewhere. He backtracked, and I asked him to adjust his tone. I explained that we’ve been researching more cost-effective, energy-efficient options and hoped for a quote on a dual heat-pump system with an 80-gallon tank alongside our existing boiler. We also plan to install a wood stove, which will reduce hot water use, and the HPWH rebates and tax credits matter to us as a not–high-income household. His response was to call me a “well-informed girl.” That sealed it. If you’re seeking solutions beyond oil heat, this is not the company to go to. We won’t be purchasing heating oil from Atlantic again or contacting them for future work.

  I called because I could smell a strong amount of gas outside my condo coming from the vent when the furnace was on. I had their emergency sticker on my furnace from a new condo I purchased. When I explained the problem and that I didn’t know who to call but online tells you to call 911 (which I thought was a bit much) they laughed at me. Audibly laughed. I am a young woman with a new home. I’m not sure how to handle these situations. So I apologized. They proceeded to laugh and informed me that gas scent outside is normal but if I smell gas inside that’s when I should call. One month later…. Still worried about the smell so I call unitil. They come and there is SERVER amounts of carbon monoxide coming from the same vent they laughed at me about for calling. My natural gas was shut off and the furnace needed to be replaced. I STRONGLY suggest calling anyone BUT Atlantic Heating for your furnace needs.
