Great place to stay, comfortable beds, it’s clean, good breakfast, the location is amazing since it’s downtown you can walk to almost anywhere you want to go. Also they are doing a lot of work on the hotel right now and it’s going to be a beautiful hotel soon!

There is room for improvement here.
Update - The hotel did provide a rate reduction for our two-day stay based on the comments I left at checkout. They are really trying and I would consider staying there again.
I have found no photos of the hotel that looked like our room. There are photos of some really nice looking rooms on the hotel website - they do not look like room we were put in. If you're booking, I suggest you get details from the front desk about what type of room you are staying in. Our room was not a place you could comfortably relax in.
There were some pluses about this stay. The location was great, especially in nice weather. The bar and restaurant and onsite parking are good. Wait staff was exceptional. The bed was comfortable, but a very cramped full size with only one thin blanket. Hotel was quiet, despite being fully booked.
Our room was old. I don't mind old, but there was no suitcase stand, no extra blankets in the closet, one bath towel per person and no towel service provided for day two. The room heat was provided by a portable infrared heater (EdenPure type) that was either on or off. Temperature control on it did not work. There was a desk with one rolling office chair, but no room at all to back the chair up, as it pushed into the bed. The window was covered up by a tall dresser and tv. You could not see the tv from the bed or desk or any location in the room unless you stood up directly in front of it.
The carpet could use cleaning. The bathroom had been cleaned, but the staff missed the underside of the faucet (noticeable when you sat on the toilet) and a couple large hairs on the fixtures that were left by the previous occupant. Hairdryer was finicky.
If we had a better room with more attention to guest comfort and room layout, our stay might have been worth the price. For what we got, it was way overpriced.

The hotel, which had its glory days when this area was thriving more than 100 years ago, is very outdated. It is currently being renovated, and that is definitely necessary. So if you book a room during this period, be aware that it may be different from what you expect. In several places, the hotel feels dirty and old. The rooms are also very noisy, which is far from ideal.
However, the staff was very friendly and the breakfast was extensive. Overall, the experience was acceptable, but I hope the renovation will be completed soon.

Although sometimes they are hard to reach, when you get through to the hotel, the staff is very accommodating. My son goes to school in the area and we have spent the last four years staying at this hotel. I love the vibes of The historic hotel. The breakfast is always good. I spent a lot of time at hotels, this it the only hotel bar I always end up in at the end of my evening, and in a good conversation with the other patrons and the bartenders. **I want to thank Austin at the front desk who assisted me with my reservation issues this evening. I was frustrated and he was amazing!! I did not give the rooms any stars because I understand they are being updated and I haven’t been there in a good few months. I am heading there this weekend!!
